Well now, lemme tell ya ’bout this here “Midwinter Night’s Dram Act 10”. I ain’t much for fancy words, but I reckon I can get the gist across just fine. Now, if yer one o’ them folks what likes a good whiskey, this one’s somethin’ you might wanna hear ’bout. First off, this here Act 10, it’s real strong with the port flavor, like someone done soaked it in wine. Ain’t no missin’ that part, it’s like takin’ a big gulp o’ that rich port stuff right off the bat. If yer like me, yer used to drinkin’ whiskey that’s a bit simpler, but this one? It’s got layers to it, almost like a cake with all them different flavors on top.
Now, I ain’t the type to be all proper about it, but I reckon it’s worth a mention that it’s got a mighty smooth feel to it. I sipped it slow, real slow, just to let that taste linger. And what do I notice? There’s this mineral edge to it, kinda like the taste ya get from the rocks down by the creek. Can’t say I know all the fancy terms, but I know what I taste. It don’t punch ya in the face like some of them strong whiskies, but it’s got a depth, like it’s been sittin’ in the barrel long enough to gather up them flavors. From the port to that bit o’ mineral, it sure is somethin’ that sticks with ya.
Now, I heard tell from some folks that it’s made with older whiskeys—somewhere between 5 and 19 years old, so that’s gotta mean it’s got some time behind it, don’t it? Older whiskey always tastes better, they say. And I reckon they ain’t wrong here. The mix of rye whiskey, aged just enough, gives it a balance that’s hard to beat. Ain’t no bitterness, no burn, just smoothness all the way through.
Now, if yer lookin’ for somethin’ real fancy, this might not be the whiskey for you. But if ya just want somethin’ that’s got flavor and a good story behind it, then you might be lookin’ in the right place. I ain’t no expert, mind ya, but I know what tastes good to me. And this one, well, it’s got the right mix of smooth, rich, and just a little bit o’ a kick to it.
So, next time you’re thinkin’ of tryin’ somethin’ new, go ahead and give this “Midwinter Night’s Dram Act 10” a shot. It ain’t the kinda whiskey that’ll make ya go “whoa” with just one sip, but it’ll sure make ya appreciate the little things. I reckon that’s what makes it special.
