Well, let me tell ya, this Batman fella, he ain’t no spring chicken, ya know? Been around since way back when, Detective Comics number 27 they say. That was in May of 1939, if ya can believe it. Folks was callin’ him a “superhero” even then. Imagine that!
Now, this Detective Comics book, it’s been goin’ on and on, and they even put Batman right there on the cover sometimes, big as ya please. Says “Detective Comics featuring Batman” right on it. Can’t miss it, even if yer eyes ain’t so good no more.
They tell me this book, it got a whole thousand issues! A thousand! That’s a lot of stories about that bat fella runnin’ around in the dark. You’d think after all that, he’d just sit down and have a nice cup of tea, maybe put his feet up. But no sirree! Just when ya think he’s done, somethin’ else comes along to rile him up.
This new thing they callin’ Arkham Rising, sounds like a whole heap of trouble to me. They say it’s the “most dangerous threat of his career.” Well, I reckon he’s seen a lot of dangerous things, that Batman. But this here Arkham, whatever it is, must be somethin’ special. Makes ya wonder what kinda varmints he’s gonna be fightin’ this time.
- Maybe it’s them clowns again, the ones with the green hair and the creepy smiles. Always causin’ trouble, they are.
- Or maybe it’s them fellas with the two faces, ya know, the ones who can’t make up their minds.
- Could even be somethin’ brand new, somethin’ we ain’t never seen before. That’d be somethin’, wouldn’t it?
This Arkham place, sounds like a bad place. They probably got all sorts of crooks and villains locked up in there. And I betcha this “Rising” part means they all gettin’ loose. Yep, that sounds about right. Batman’s gonna have his hands full, that’s for sure.
I heard tell that on March 30, 1939, that very first Detective Comics #27 hit the newsstands all across the country. Folks musta been surprised to see this fella dressed up like a bat, fightin’ crime and such. But he caught on, didn’t he? Now everybody knows Batman.
And they keep makin’ new games and such about him, too. They call ’em “new releases,” like they just come off the presses, fresh and hot. Lots of games to play these days, more than a body can keep up with, that’s for sure. But this Batman fella, he keeps on goin’, in the comics, on the TV, and even in them games.
So this Arkham Rising, it’s just another chapter in his long story. He’ll probably go through a whole bunch of trouble, fight a lot of bad guys, and come out on top in the end. That’s just what he does. Been doin’ it for a long, long time. Makes ya wonder if he ever gets tired. Maybe he does, but he don’t let on none. He just keeps on fightin’ for what’s right, or so they say.
So, if you see that Batman fella around, you tell him to be careful, ya hear? That Arkham place sounds mighty dangerous. He’s gonna need all the help he can get. But then again, he’s Batman. He probably got it all figured out.
Anyway, that’s the gist of it. This Batman fella, he’s got a new fight on his hands. And it’s called Arkham Rising. Sounds like a doozy. But I reckon he’ll handle it, just like he always does. He’s been at it a long time, after all.
