Well, howdy there, y’all! Let me tell ya somethin’ about this Ada Music on the Lawn thing. Sounds fancy, huh? But it ain’t nothin’ more than a good ol’ time, like we used to have back in the day, ‘cept maybe with a little more… well, I dunno… city-fied stuff.
So, first things first, they call it a “summer soundtrack.” Now, I ain’t never had no soundtrack to my summers, ‘cept maybe the crickets chirpin’ and the cows mooin’. But I reckon this here means they got music, you know, like them fellas with the guitars and drums. They play it outside, on the grass, which they call a “lawn.” Fancy folks, I tell ya.
This here music shindig happens at somethin’ called the Van Andel Family Pavilion. Sounds big and important, don’t it? It’s in a place called Legacy Park. I guess that means it’s been there a spell, or maybe it’s just got a fancy name. Anyways, it’s in Ada, wherever that is. Heard it ain’t too far from Grand Rapids.
Now, who’s puttin’ on this here show? Well, it’s the Ada Township Parks and the Ada Historical Society folks. Parks, I get. But historical society? I guess they like old-timey music or somethin’. Maybe they’ll play some tunes I actually recognize!
They got tickets and all that, but I ain’t sure how much they cost. Probably more than a nickel, that’s for sure. If you wanna go, you gotta find your way to Legacy Park, 7450 River St., Ada, MI 49301. Sounds like a mouthful, don’t it? Just ask around, somebody’s bound to know where it is. Heck, even my ol’ GPS can probably find it, and that thing’s older than my mule!
- What to Expect: They say it’s a concert series, which means there’s more than one show. That’s good, I guess, if you like that kind of thing. They play on Wednesday evenings, starting at 7:00 PM and going till 8:00 PM. Not too late, which is nice for us old folks who like to be in bed by nine.
- When to Go: They started this thing in June and it goes all the way to August. So, you got plenty of chances to catch a show, if you’re so inclined. The last one for 2024 is on Wednesday, August 21st, so mark your calendars, y’all!
- Where it’s at again: Remember, it’s at Legacy Park, 7430 River Street Southeast Ada, MI. Don’t go gettin’ yourself lost now!
Seems like the whole shebang is organized by Ada Village and the Ada History Center too. Lots of folks involved, I reckon. Must be a big deal for them Ada folks.
Now, I ain’t never been to one of these “music on the lawn” things myself. I’m more of a porch-sittin’, sweet-tea-sippin’ kind of gal. But if you like music and you like bein’ outside, then I reckon you might enjoy it. Just don’t expect no fancy dancin’ or nothin’. Just folks sittin’ around, listenin’ to tunes, and maybe tappin’ their feet a little.
And if you do go, bring a blanket or a chair, ’cause I ain’t sure if they got enough sittin’ space for everyone. And maybe bring a fly swatter too, ’cause them mosquitos can be fierce in the summertime. Don’t forget your bug spray!
So, there you have it. That’s all I know about this Ada Music on the Lawn thing. It ain’t rocket science, that’s for sure. Just a bunch of folks gettin’ together to listen to music. If that sounds like your cup of tea, then go on and check it out. And if not, well, there’s always more important things to do, like weedin’ the garden or feedin’ the chickens.
One last thing, I heard tell they play all sorts of music, not just that twangy country stuff. So, you might hear somethin’ you like, even if you ain’t a big music fan. And if you don’t like it, well, it’s only an hour long, you can handle that can’t ya? Heck, I spend more time than that just tryin’ to figure out what to make for supper.
Alright, I’ve rambled on long enough. Go on now, get outta here and enjoy your summer. And if you happen to go to this here music thing, you can tell me all about it later. I’ll be right here on my porch swing, waitin’ for ya.
