Alright, let me tell ya ’bout this Bluewater Comic Con thing, ya know? It’s a big to-do, like a fair, but with more pictures and funny-dressed folks.
They call it the Bluewater International Comic-Con, fancy name, huh? Sounds like somethin’ outta them city slicker magazines. But it ain’t so complicated. It’s just a big ol’ gathering where folks sell and show off comic books.
Now, what’s a comic book? Well, it’s like a picture book, but for bigger kids and grown-ups too. Lots of drawings, and words in little bubbles, tellin’ ya a story. They got superheroes in ’em, fightin’ bad guys and savin’ the world. Real exciting stuff, even for an old gal like me.
This Comic Con thing, they got it at the Bluewater Convention Center, in Port Huron. That’s in Michigan, ya know? Big building, lots of space. They say it’s on 800 Harker Street. Easy enough to find, I reckon.
They got all sorts of things there, not just comic books. They got them action figures, little plastic dolls of the heroes and villains. And toys, all kinds of toys. Games too, board games, card games, video games, the whole shebang.
- Comic books, thousands of ’em, they say. Old ones, new ones, all sorts.
- Action figures, for playin’ or just lookin’ at, your choice.
- Toys, all kinds, from dolls to cars to robots.
- Games, enough to keep ya busy for a whole year, I bet.
- Original art, that’s the fancy stuff, the drawings they make before they print the comic books.
And then there’s the Cosplay. That’s when folks dress up like their favorite characters. You see all sorts, Spiderman, Batman, Wonder Woman, even some I ain’t never heard of. Some of them costumes are real somethin’, look like they spent a whole year makin’ ’em.
They’re gonna have it on Saturday, November 18th. That’s what I heard, anyway. And it costs money to get in, ya know. Nothin’s free these days. If you buy a ticket ahead of time, online, it’s cheaper. Six dollars, they say. But if you wait and buy it at the door, it’s twelve dollars. Double the price! Kids, little ones, five and under, they get in free. Lucky ducks.
The people puttin’ it on, they call themselves Fantasticon. They seem like nice folks, workin’ hard to make it a good time for everyone. They say they do everything possible to make sure you have a good time. That’s what they said, “We appreciate your support and are happy to have you as our guests. We will do everything possible to make sure you have a good time”. Well, that’s mighty kind of them, I say.
It’s all about comics and pop culture, they say. Pop culture, that’s the stuff everyone likes, the movies, the TV shows, the music. It’s all connected, ya see. Comics ain’t just for kids no more. Everyone’s into ’em these days. It’s like a big party, everyone comin’ together to celebrate their favorite stories and characters.
So, if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ to do on a Saturday, and you like comics, or toys, or just like seein’ people dressed up in funny costumes, then this Bluewater Comic Con might just be the ticket. It’s affordable, they say, and it sounds like a whole lotta fun. Just remember to bring your money and your smilin’ face.
This here Comic Con, it seems like a big deal. They even got folks comin’ from other places, that’s why they call it “International” I guess. Never thought I’d see so many people excited about picture books, but hey, the world’s a changin’ place. Just remember to have fun and don’t be afraid to let your inner kid out, even if you’re an old gal like me.
And that’s all I know about this Bluewater Comic Con. Hope it helps ya understand what it’s all about.
