Well, hello there, young’uns! Today, we’re gonna talk about somethin’ kinda fishy, somethin’…magical! We’re gonna gab about them mermaid quizzes. You know, them things on the internet that tell ya if you’re a mermaid or what kind of mermaid you might be. Sounds silly, I know, but my grandbaby, she loves ’em, so I figured, why not yak about it a bit.

Now, I ain’t never seen no mermaid myself, ‘cept for maybe that one time at the county fair when that fella dressed up in a fish tail and sang real loud. A mermaid on the beach, just sunnin’ herself like a lizard on a rock! It’s a whole bunch of hooey, if you ask me, but the young’uns, they eat it up with a spoon.

- What’s your personality like? Are you bubbly or grumpy? Friendly or shy? These quizzes try to match your personality to a mermaid type. It’s like they’re sayin’, “Oh, you’re a sassy one? You must be a fire coral mermaid!” Or somethin’ like that.
And get this, some quizzes even try to tell you when you become a mermaid! Like, do you turn into a mermaid when nobody’s lookin’? Or maybe only on a full moon? It’s all a bunch of malarkey, if you ask me, but it’s fun malarkey, I guess. Keeps the young’uns entertained.
My grandbaby, she takes these quizzes all the time. One day she’s a coral mermaid, the next she’s a kelp mermaid. I tell her, “Honey, you ain’t no mermaid, you’re just a little girl who likes to play in the bathtub.” But she just giggles and takes another quiz. And you know what? That’s alright by me. It ain’t hurtin’ nobody, and it keeps her happy.

It ain’t like you’re gonna grow a tail and start breathin’ underwater just because some quiz on the internet says so.
