Well, let me tell ya ’bout this Charlotte’s Ring Comic thing. I ain’t no fancy book reader or nothin’, but I seen my grandkid lookin’ at it, so I peeked. Seems like a whole lotta fuss ’bout a pig and a spider, and some ring, I guess.
First off, there’s this boy, Avery. Real troublemaker, that one. Always pokin’ around with toys and such, gettin’ into mischief. Reminds me of my nephew Billy, always tied firecrackers to the cat’s tail, bless his heart. Anyways, this Avery fella, he’s part of the whole shebang.
- This spider, Charlotte, she’s somethin’ else. Smartest darn spider I ever heard of. She’s weavin’ words in her web, like “some pig” and “terrific.” Now, I ain’t never seen a spider do that, but I guess that’s what makes it a story, huh?
- And then there’s this pig. Just a regular pig, far as I can tell. But Charlotte, she takes a likin’ to him, and she’s tryin’ to save him from gettin’ the chop. Folks wanna eat him, ya see. That’s how it is with pigs, I guess.
It all starts with talk of killin’ this runt pig. A little girl, Fern, she don’t like that one bit. Asks her mama, “Where’s Papa goin’ with that ax?” Lord, have mercy. Reminds me of the time we had to put down old Bessie the cow. Broke my heart, it did.
So, this Charlotte, she starts weavin’ her magic, makin’ folks think this pig is somethin’ special. “Radiant” she writes, and “humble.” Big words for a spider, if you ask me. But it works! Folks start thinkin’ this pig is too good to eat.
Now, where’s this ring come in? I ain’t quite sure. Maybe it’s got somethin’ to do with keepin’ the pig safe, or maybe it’s somethin’ else altogether. These comic books, they always got twists and turns, ya know? Like that soap opera my daughter watches, always someone gettin’ amnesia or comin’ back from the dead. Makes my head spin, it does.
This comic, it seems like it’s tryin’ to tell you somethin’ ’bout friendship and savin’ somethin’ you care about. Even if it’s just a pig. And maybe about how even the smallest creatures, like a spider, can do big things. That’s a good message, I reckon. We could all use a little more kindness in this world, that’s for sure. Too much fightin’ and fussin’ if you ask me.
I see my grandkid readin’ it online, on somethin’ called KaliScan or MangaTown. These youngsters and their fancy gadgets, I tell ya. Back in my day, we had books, real paper ones, with pictures and all. But I guess times change, and you gotta keep up, or you get left behind. Like that time I tried to use the self-checkout at the grocery store. Ended up callin’ the manager and holdin’ up the whole line. Embarrassin’, it was.
They say there are chapters and HD images, and you can even get notifications if you want. Sounds complicated to me. I just like a good story, somethin’ that makes you laugh and maybe cry a little. And this Charlotte’s Ring Comic, well, it seems like it might just do that. Even for an old lady like me. So maybe I’ll sit down with my grandkid and have her explain it all to me. Might be a good way to spend an afternoon, instead of just watchin’ the birds at the feeder. Though, I do like watchin’ them birds.
Anyways, that’s my take on it. A pig, a spider, a troublemakin’ boy, and some fancy words in a web. And a ring, somewhere in there. Sounds like a whole lotta somethin’, that’s for sure. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to go make some sweet tea.
Charlotte’s Ring, a good yarn, I reckon, even if I don’t understand all the highfalutin stuff.
