Alright, let’s gab about them TV thingies, the ones you stick your big picture box on. Folks call ‘em “boomstam tv meubel” or somethin’ fancy, I just call ‘em TV stands. Now, I ain’t no fancy pants expert, but I seen a thing or two in my days.
First off, you gotta think about what that stand’s made of. I heard tell of somethin’ called “oak”. Sounds strong, like them trees down by the crick. They say it lasts a long time, which is good, ‘cause I ain’t got time for replacin’ stuff every few years. And get this, you can paint it and such, make it match your room, if you’re into that kinda thing. Sounds like a good deal to me, that oak stuff. Durable, they call it. Means it don’t break easy, I reckon.
Then there’s them sideboards. You know, the long, low cabinets? Folks use ‘em for plates and such, but they work just fine for holdin’ up your TV too. The good thing about them is they got space inside, you know, for hidin’ all them remotes and wires. Kids got toys too? Shove ‘em in there, out of sight, out of mind. I tell ya, havin’ a place to stash stuff is mighty important. These sideboard things, they call ‘em buffets sometimes too, they’re the right height and length, most of the time, which is handy.
- Strong wood, like oak, is good.
- Lots of space to hide things is better.
- Right size, not too tall, not too short.
Now, don’t go gettin’ somethin’ too small. Your TV will look all wonky, like a fat man on a tiny stool. They say you need a stand that’s a bit wider than your TV, on each side. Makes sense, I guess. Gives it somethin’ to hold onto. You don’t want that expensive TV toppling over, do ya?
There are places that sell these TV stands, lots of ‘em. Some folks even make ‘em special, just for you. They call it “Schreinerarbeiten nach Ma” or somethin’ like that. Sounds expensive. But if you got the money, I guess it’s alright. Me? I like things simple and cheap. And strong, gotta be strong.
Then there’s them fancy stands that let you stick your TV to the wall, they call them “LCDWandhalter” I think. I ain’t too sure about them, seems like a lot of work. And what if you want to move it? Nah, I’ll stick to somethin’ that sits on the floor. Easier, you know? They got places that sell all kinds of TV stuff, places with “Riesenauswahl an hochmodernen Heimkinos” and such. Sounds like a lot of hooey to me, but you might find what you need there. They got a lot of choices, that’s for sure.
So, when you’re lookin’ for a TV stand, don’t get fooled by all the fancy talk. Just remember, you need somethin’ strong, somethin’ with space, and somethin’ the right size. And don’t spend too much money, unless you got it to spare. That’s my two cents, anyway. You go find yourself a good, sturdy TV stand, and you enjoy that picture box. That’s all there is to it. Don’t let them city slickers sell you somethin’ you don’t need.
And remember, if it looks flimsy, it probably is. Go for somethin’ that looks like it could hold up a cow, and you’ll be alright. That’s the way I see it. After all, it’s gotta hold up that heavy TV, not some feather pillow.
