Alright, alright, lemme tell ya ’bout these… uh… how they call ‘em? Khmer Chinese Movies Drama. Yeah, that’s it. Don’t know much ‘bout fancy words, but I know what I like watchin’!
So, these movies, they got all sorts of stories. Some are ’bout fightin’, you know, with swords and kung fu and all that. Like them old-timey shows where fellas jump around like monkeys and yell a lot. Real exciting, gets your blood pumpin’. I like them best, I reckon.
- Fighting ones are good.
- Sometimes they got sad ones too.
- And some are just plain silly.
Then there’s the drama ones. Oh, them are somethin’ else. Lots of cryin’ and shoutin’ and people fallin’ in love and then gettin’ their hearts broke. Reminds me of my cousin Martha and her fella, always at each other’s throats, then makin’ up the next day. These stories, they go on and on, sometimes for, what, tens of episodes? Keeps ya busy, that’s for sure.
Now, where do I watch ‘em? Well, my grandson, that smart fella, he showed me this thing called… the inter… somethin’. Inter-net? Yeah, that’s it. He says you can watch anything on it. And wouldn’t you know it, he was right! I just tell him what I want, like “Hey, find me some of them Chinese movies where they talk in…uh…Khmer,” and he finds it for me. Magical, I tell ya, just magical.
And the best part? It’s all free! Well, mostly free. Sometimes them young folks gotta pay for somethin’ or other, but I don’t bother with that. I just watch what they put on for me. They got all kinds, these Khmer Chinese Movies Drama, something for everyone, I guess. My neighbor, old Mrs. Higgins, she likes the ones with pretty dresses and fancy houses. Me? I like the ones where they fight, like I said.
Speaking of fighting movies, they got this one where this fella… well, he’s got this sword, and he’s gotta protect his family from this bad guy. And the bad guy, he’s got all these henchmen, and they all fight and fight. And there’s this girl too, she’s real pretty and she can fight just as good as the fella. They fall in love, of course, but then… well, I won’t spoil it for ya. But it’s a good one, lots of action and yelling and sword clanging.
Then there are the sad ones. Oh, them are a real tearjerkers. They got one about a princess who can’t be with the man she loves ‘cause he’s just a poor farmer. And they cry and they cry, and then… well, somethin’ bad happens. I won’t tell you what, but it makes you wanna hug your own loved ones real tight. Makes me think of my ol’ man, bless his soul.
And sometimes, they just got silly ones. Like this one about a talking dog who helps this fella win the lottery. Or this other one about a bunch of ghosts who haunt this old house but they’re really just clumsy and keep bumping into things. Them ones are good for a laugh, you know? Makes you forget about your aches and pains for a little while.
So, yeah, that’s what I know ‘bout these Khmer Chinese Movies Drama. They got fightin’ ones, sad ones, silly ones… somethin’ for everyone. And you can watch ‘em on that inter-net thingy. Just ask your grandkids, they’ll know what to do. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go see if that fightin’ one is on. The one with the fella and the sword? Yeah, that’s the one.
And if you are wondering what to start with? Just search for some and pick the one with a good picture! That’s what I do! Sometimes, I just let my grandson pick for me. He knows what I like.
