Good Movies, Yeah, Good Movies
You youngsters always talkin’ ’bout them “films.” Back in my day, we just called ’em movies. But I guess times change, eh? Anyway, I heard tell you wanna know about good movies, or “film apik eu” as you fancy folks say. Don’t know what that “eu” part means, sounds like somethin’ fancy and foreign. But I know a good movie when I see one, that’s for sure.
Now, I ain’t been to one of them fancy movie theaters in ages. Too much noise, too much popcorn crunchin’. I like watchin’ my movies at home, where I can sit in my comfy chair and yell at the TV if I want to. And let me tell you, there’s a whole heap of movies out there, more than you can shake a stick at.
- Old Movies, Good Movies
Some folks, they like them newfangled movies with all the explosions and whatnot. But me? I like the old ones. The ones with stories you can understand, and actors who know how to act. You know, the kind where the good guys win and the bad guys get what’s comin’ to ’em. Black and white, color, doesn’t matter to me, long as it’s a good story.
I remember watchin’ movies with my grandpa when I was just a little tyke. He’d tell me all about the actors and actresses, and how they made the movies back then. No fancy computers or nothin’, just good ol’ fashioned talent. Those were the days, I tell ya. Movies back then, they had heart. They taught you somethin’ about life, about love, about right and wrong. Now, it’s all just shootin’ and hollerin’ and stuff blowin’ up.
- Finding Good Movies
Now, finding a good movie these days, that’s a chore in itself. Too many choices, if you ask me. You got your “streamin’ services” and your “on demand” and all sorts of fancy gadgets. It’s enough to make your head spin. Back in my day, you went to the movie theater, or maybe you waited for it to come on TV. Simple as that.
But I hear tell there’s ways to find good movies even now. Folks talkin’ ’bout websites where you can see what other folks are watchin’. And they got these “recommendations” and “ratings” and such. Sounds complicated, but I guess it helps. I just ask my grandkids what’s good. They seem to know what’s what, even if they do watch some strange stuff sometimes.
I also heard tell you can watch movies on your “phone” now. Can you believe that? Watchin’ a whole movie on a little screen like that? Seems silly to me, but I guess that’s what the young folks like. Me, I like a big screen, somethin’ I can see without squintin’. And good sound, too. None of that tinny, scratchy sound you get on them little gadgets.
- What Makes a Movie Good?
So, what makes a movie good, you ask? Well, that’s a question ain’t got no easy answer. Different folks like different things, that’s for sure. But for me, it’s all about the story. Gotta have a story that grabs you, that makes you care about what’s happenin’. And the actors, they gotta be believable. Gotta make you feel like they’re real people, not just folks pretendin’.
And the movie, it’s gotta have some heart. Gotta make you feel somethin’, whether it’s happy or sad or scared or even angry. If a movie don’t make you feel nothin’, then it ain’t worth watchin’, if you ask me. And it don’t hurt if it’s got a good message, too. Somethin’ about bein’ kind, or brave, or honest. Them’s the kind of movies I like.
More Than Just Moving Pictures
Movies, they ain’t just pictures movin’ on a screen. They’re stories, they’re dreams, they’re a way to escape from the everyday grind. They can make you laugh, they can make you cry, they can even make you think. And that’s a powerful thing, ain’t it? So next time you’re lookin’ for a good movie, remember what I said. Look for a good story, good actors, and a whole lotta heart. And don’t forget the popcorn, of course. No movie is complete without a big ol’ bowl of popcorn.
I tell you what, movies, they’ve come a long way. From them silent black and white things to the fancy colorful ones you got now. But one thing hasn’t changed: a good movie is a good movie, no matter when it was made or how you watch it. And that’s the truth, plain and simple.
