Well, let me tell you, I heard some big news ’bout that Cullman County Sports Hall of Fame. They’re puttin’ in a whole new bunch this year. A whole mess of folks, all good at their sports, you know?
They got all kinds, baseball, football, you name it. Some of them young’uns, some older like me. But all of ’em did somethin’ special in Cullman County. This Cullman County Sports Hall of Fame, it’s a big deal ’round here.
They had this big shindig, a ceremony I hear. Fancy eatin’ and speeches, the whole nine yards. Stonebridge Farms, that’s where it was. Heard it was packed. They even gave out some money to some of the school kids, scholarships they call ’em. Helps ’em with their schoolin’. That’s mighty nice, ain’t it?
Here are some names of those young’uns gettin’ that scholarship money:
- Carley Davis – that’s one of ’em.
- Can’t remember the others. There were nine I think.
This one fella, Travis Hunter, I hear he got two big awards. Best defender, best receiver. That’s somethin’ else, ain’t it? He must be real good. These Cullman County Hall of Fame folks, they know how to pick ’em.
And then there’s this Randy Jones. They say he’s somethin’ special too. Don’t know much ’bout him, but if he’s in that Hall of Fame, he musta done somethin’ right. You don’t just get in there for nothin’.
There’s this other fella, Michael Oldacre. They say if there was a school smarts hall of fame, he would be in it. Smart as a whip, I bet. This Cullman County Sports Hall of Fame, they got all kinds of folks in there. It ain’t just about runnin’ and jumpin’.
This year they put in Brett Crider, from Cold Springs. Heard he was a good one. They call it the 21st class, like they got 21 bunches of folks in there now. That’s a lot of people. That Cullman County Sports Hall of Fame is gettin’ bigger every year.

This whole thing, it’s important, you know? Recognizes the folks who done good in sports ’round here. Gives ’em somethin’ to be proud of. And it’s good for the young’uns to see. Shows ’em what they can do if they work hard.
This Cullman County Sports Hall of Fame, it’s more than just names on a wall. It’s about the people, the stories, the hard work. It’s about what makes this place special. And that’s somethin’ worth rememberin’.
