This here Doctor Who comic covers, you see, they’re somethin’ else. I tell ya, I seen a lot of things in my time, but these things, they got colors brighter than a rooster’s comb at sunrise. And the pictures! Lord, they look like they could just jump right off the page at ya.
I was flippin’ through these things, ya know, at the store the other day. My grandson, he’s a good boy, he loves this Doctor Who. He’s always goin’ on about TARDIS this and Dalek that. I don’t rightly know what any of it means, but it makes him happy, so that’s all that matters.
But these covers, even I gotta admit, they’re somethin’. They got this fella, the Doctor, I reckon he’s the main guy. He’s got all sorts of different faces on these covers. Sometimes he’s got wild hair, sometimes he’s wearin’ a long scarf. Changes more often than the weather, that one.
And the monsters, oh boy, the monsters! They got these things called Daleks. They look like big ol’ pepper shakers with guns stickin’ out. Don’t seem too friendly, if you ask me. But my grandson, he thinks they’re the bee’s knees. Kids these days, I swear.
- Some covers got spaceships.
- Some got monsters that are really scary.
- Some got that blue phone box.
- All kind of Doctor Who related.
I seen one cover, it had this big robot lookin’ thing, all metal and shiny. Reminded me of old Bessie, our milk cow, after she rolled around in the mud. Except this robot, he looked a lot meaner than Bessie ever did.
And the colors, like I said, they’re just somethin’ else. Bright blues and reds and greens. Like a rainbow threw up all over the page. It’s a sight to behold, I tell ya.
Now, I don’t understand all this Doctor Who stuff. Seems like a lot of hocus pocus to me. Time travelin’ and aliens and whatnot. Back in my day, we had stories about real things. Like plantin’ crops and tendin’ to the animals. Things that mattered, ya know?
But I gotta give it to ’em, these Doctor Who comic covers, they sure are eye-catchin’. They make ya wanna pick ’em up and look closer. Even if you don’t know a Dalek from a doorknob. They just grab ya, ya know? It’s like they got a magic spell on ’em or somethin’.
My grandson, he’s got a whole stack of these comics. He keeps ’em all nice and neat, in plastic sleeves and everything. Says they’re gonna be worth somethin’ someday. I don’t know about that. Seems like a lot of fuss over funny papers to me. But if it makes him happy, that’s all right by me.
These Doctor Who comic covers, they are full of aliens. Green ones, blue ones, some with big heads, some with no heads at all. You name it, they probably got it on one of these covers. Makes my head spin just thinkin’ about it.
And they’re always fightin’, these folks on the covers. The Doctor and his friends, they’re always up against some kind of monster or alien or robot. Seems like they can’t catch a break. Must be exhaustin’, all that adventure.
- There was one with a big, scary-lookin’ monster.
- It was green and had lots of teeth.
- It was fightin’ the Doctor, who had a little light-up stick.
- All the covers are related to Doctor Who.
I remember one cover, it had this lady on it. She was wearin’ a sparkly dress and had big hair. Looked like she was ready for a Saturday night dance. But she was also holdin’ a gun, so I guess she meant business.
It’s a different world, these comics. Not like the world I grew up in. But it’s interestin’, I’ll give it that. And it keeps my grandson outta trouble, so that’s somethin’. He could be doin’ worse things than readin’ about Doctor Who comic covers.
I reckon these covers are like little windows into another world. A world full of adventure and excitement and strange creatures. It’s not my cup of tea, exactly. But I can see why folks like ’em. They’re like a little escape from the everyday, ya know?
So, if you ever see these Doctor Who comic covers, take a look. You might be surprised. They might just grab ya, like they did me. And who knows, you might even learn somethin’ about Daleks and TARDISes and all that other stuff. Or not. Either way, it’s somethin’ to look at, ain’t it?
