You wanna hear about this thing, Felsala comic? My grandson, he’s always on that computer thing, showed me. Said it’s real popular. Lots of folks like it, he says. Said it’s full of pictures and stories, kinda like those picture books, but for grown-ups, he says with a grin on his face.
This Felsala, it’s a place on the internet, I reckon. You go there, and they got all sorts of these Felsala comics. Pictures, you know, drawn up all nice. They tell stories, I guess. He showed me, but I don’t get it to be honest, this Felsala. I saw some stories, something like ‘Being a Good Friend’.
Now, back in my day, we didn’t have these Felsala comics. We had newspapers, if we were lucky. And the funnies, those were the best part. Simple pictures, simple stories. You could read ’em while you were eatin’ your breakfast. Not like today, you need that whole computer machine just to see a few drawings.
- This Felsala, it’s got all kinds of these comics.
- Romance, they call it. Lots of huggin’ and kissin’.
- Then there’s action, like cowboys and shootin’.
- And fantasy, with dragons and magic. My grandson, he loves that stuff.
- There is horror too. I don’t like that. Too scary.
He tried to explain it to me. Said you can even pay money to see more of these Felsala comics. Five dollars, he said! For some drawings! Back in my day, five dollars could buy you a whole sack of potatoes, enough to feed the family for a week. Now, it’s just for some pictures that disappear when you turn off that computer. These Felsala comics are expensive!
But folks like it, he says. Lots of folks. They go on this Felsala place and look at these pictures. And they talk about ’em. They got groups, he says, where they all talk about these Felsala comic. Like a club, but on the computer. They even say some of them draw their own Felsala comics.
Now, I asked him, “Why would anyone want to draw these things?” He says some folks, they got stories in their heads. Stories they gotta tell. And they tell ’em with these pictures, these Felsala comics. Says it’s the only way they can tell ’em right. I guess some are really into these Felsala comics.
He also says that there are lots of places other than Felsala where you can see these things. He mentioned something called “Webtoon”. He said it’s free! There are others, but I don’t remember their names. You can read comic books online for free! Why pay?
My grandson showed me the covers of some old comic books. They look valuable. He said that the valuable ones will have 10c, 12c, 15c, 20c, or 25c on the cover. The price is usually printed on the cover. I have some old comic books, maybe they are worth something.
I still don’t really get it, this whole Felsala comic thing. But my grandson, he likes it. And lots of other folks do too. So, I guess it’s a big deal. Maybe it’s like those soap operas on the television. People like stories. And these Felsala comics, they’re just stories told in a different way.
He says that to make your own comic story, you gotta have ideas first, you know. Think about what you wanna show people. Then you make these characters, people in the story. Make ’em interesting, he says. Then you gotta plan out the story, beginning, middle, and end. Like a movie, but with pictures. These kids these days with their Felsala comics.
There’s this thing he showed me where there were no comments. Zero. Zilch. “Nobody’s responded to this post yet,” it said. He was real sad about it. Said it’s important to get folks talkin’. Then he starts to read these Felsala comic, I don’t know why.
He says that in order to see some of the works, you gotta log in. I don’t know what that means, but I guess you gotta have some secret password or something. These Felsala comics, they are full of secrets. He says there are many places on the internet where you can get your “comics fix” without paying. Guess that’s a good thing.
He talked about some places, “View Comics”, “Comic Book Plus”. Sounded complicated to me. My head was spinnin’ tryin’ to keep up. These darn Felsala comics are everywhere, he says. It’s a whole world, he says, on that computer machine. A whole world of pictures and stories. A whole world of these Felsala comics. It’s all a bit much for me, but if it makes him happy, then I guess it’s alright.
