That Asheboro park, yeah, the one near where they sell them good pickles, got music now. Heard it clear across my yard other day. Sounded like a whole bunch of folks havin’ a good time.
They call it somethin’ fancy, “music in the park”. But it’s just folks singing and playing them guitars and drums, same as always. Still, it’s nice. Makes ya wanna tap your foot, you know?
Asheboro Music, Good for the Soul
Ain’t nothin’ like a little live music to make you feel alive. I went down there last Friday, and my, oh my, they had a crowd. Lots of folks from Asheboro, some from other places too, I reckon. All just there to listen to that music.
They had some food trucks, too. Sold them hot dogs and such. Got myself one with chili, just like I like it. Sat there on a bench, ate my hot dog, and listened to them play. Reminded me of when I was a young girl, going to them barn dances.

They got this music every Friday night, I hear. ‘Cept when it rains, I guess. Don’t think they wanna get them instruments wet. But most Fridays, you can bet your bottom dollar there’ll be music in that park.
They got different folks playing, too. One week it’s them rock and roll folks, next week it might be somethin’ else. Heard they even had them country singers once. Don’t know much ’bout that, but I reckon some folks like it.
This one fella, he played the guitar somethin’ fierce. Made that thing sing, he did. Had everyone clappin’ along. Even saw some folks dancin’. Ain’t seen that in a while.
More than just Music in Asheboro
Now, Asheboro ain’t just got that park music. I heard they got other places with live music, too. Some bar, I think it’s called “Lucky’s”. They got burgers, too. Might have to try that one day.
Then there’s that place, “Brick City”. Sounds kinda rough to me, but I guess some folks like it. They got music there, too, I hear. All kinds of music, it seems like. Asheboro’s got somethin’ for everyone.

I went a few times already, with my neighbor, Myrtle. She loves it, too. We sit there and talk and listen to the music. Sometimes we even get up and dance a little. Makes us feel young again.
They play all kinds of music, like I said. Some of it’s old, some of it’s new. But it’s all good. Makes you wanna smile. And in this world, we need all the smiles we can get.
