I found a few channels and websites that seemed promising, like “Phumi Khmer,” “7Khmer,” and a couple of others. They had a decent collection of Chinese movies dubbed in Khmer. I started watching a few of them to see what the quality was like. Some were actually pretty well done! The dubbing was synced nicely, and the audio quality was clear.
I also stumbled upon some interesting finds, like a movie called “Tiger Kung Fu of Wulin” that was fully dubbed in Khmer. I watched that one, and it was pretty entertaining. The action scenes were cool, and the dubbing made it easy to follow along even though I don’t know any Chinese.
Then I decided to dig a bit deeper. I checked out some forums and online communities where people discuss these kinds of things. I found a few threads where people were sharing links to their favorite dubbed movies. That’s how I discovered “Ye Xi,” a story about a woman who wants to become a martial arts hero. The story seemed interesting, so I added it to my list.
But it wasn’t all smooth sailing. Some of the movies I found had really bad dubbing. Like, the voices didn’t match the characters at all, or the audio was so low you could barely hear it. I even came across a few that were just clips of movies with Khmer subtitles, not actually dubbed.
I also noticed that there are different types of Khmer dubbing. Some are done by professional voice actors, and those are usually the best quality. But others are done by fans or amateur groups, and the quality can vary a lot. It’s kind of a hit or miss with those.
After spending a good amount of time exploring, I managed to compile a pretty decent list of Chinese movies that are actually well-dubbed in Khmer. It took some effort, but it was worth it. Now I have a bunch of movies to watch during my free time.
Oh, and I also found out about this movie called “First They Killed My Father.” It’s a Cambodian-American film in the Khmer language, directed by Angelina Jolie. It’s based on a true story about the Khmer Rouge regime. I haven’t watched it yet, but it’s definitely on my list now.
