Okay, so I got this thing I’ve been messing around with, and I thought I’d share my whole process with you guys. It’s called “Drama of Scripture.” It’s basically me diving deep into the Bible, trying to get a grip on what it’s all about.
First off, I started by reading through a summary I found. It kinda broke down the Bible into a six-act play: Creation, Sin, Israel, Jesus, Mission, and New Creation. Sounds neat, right? I mean, it’s like the Bible’s got this whole storyline going on, from God creating the world to Him hitting the reset button later on. And Jesus, yeah, He’s the main guy in this story.
Then, I got into some Proverbs and other verses, like that one about gossip being like fuel to a fire—totally makes sense. Proverbs 26:20, that’s the one. And there’s another from James, talking about how our words can stir up drama. It’s all about keeping your mouth in check, you know?
- Read a bunch of verses, not just from Proverbs.
- Tried to connect them to this whole drama idea.
- Realized there’s a lot about how our words and actions can cause trouble or bring peace.
I also checked out Romans 12:18, where Paul’s all like, “Try to live in peace with everyone.” It’s like, we gotta actively work to keep things chill. And Ecclesiastes 7:9 warns about getting angry too fast—drama loves that stuff.
After that, I started thinking, “Why not make this into an actual drama?” I found some drama scripts online, the kind that makes Bible stories come alive. So I grabbed a few of those, thinking I could maybe put on a little performance or something.
I spent a good chunk of time adapting these scripts. I wanted them to be easy to follow, but also really hit home, you know? Changed some words here and there, added a few of my own ideas.
- Adapted scripts to make them more “me.”
- Focused on making the message clear and powerful.
- Spent a lot of time on this, but it felt worth it.
Then came the fun part—actually performing it. I got a few friends together, and we did a little run-through. It was rough around the edges, but man, it felt good to bring those stories to life. We laughed, we messed up, but we also felt something, you know? Like, we were connecting with the stories on a whole new level.
Finally, I decided to record our little performance. Nothing fancy, just used my phone. But it was cool to have something to look back on, and to share with others who couldn’t be there.
Reflections
Honestly, this whole thing was a journey. I learned a lot about the Bible, about drama, and about myself. It’s one thing to read something, but to actually act it out, to try to live it, even just for a little bit? That changes things. It makes it all more real, more personal.
So yeah, that’s my “Drama of Scripture” story. It was a wild ride, and I’m not sure where I’ll go with it next. Maybe I’ll write more scripts, maybe I’ll do more performances. Who knows? But I wanted to share this with you guys, just in case it sparks something in you, too. Maybe you’ll start your own drama, or find some other way to connect with these ancient stories. Whatever you do, I hope it’s as awesome as this has been for me.
