Man, I gotta tell you about this past weekend. I went to see WWE in Laredo, TX, and it was a blast! I’ve been a fan since I was a kid, so this was kind of a big deal for me. First I got my tickets online, they have many kinds of events, like Monday Night Raw, Friday Night Smackdown, NXT 2.0, WrestleMania, Royal Rumble, SummerSlam, finally I chose Sunday Stunner and the event was held in Sames Auto Arena, it is really easy to find.
The day finally came, and I drove down to the Sames Auto Arena. The place was packed! You could feel the energy as soon as you walked in. Families, kids, groups of friends – everyone was hyped up. Found my seat, and it was a pretty good view. Before the main event, they had some local talents, they must be over 18 and possess an athletic background I guess, and the application reviews lead to tryouts, some guys were pretty good, getting the crowd warmed up.
The Show Begins!
Then, the real show started. The lights, the music, the entrance ramps… it was all so cool! Seeing these wrestlers that I’ve watched on TV for years in person, that was something else. “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes was there, also the WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth “Freakin” Rollins, and even the WWE Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley! And there are Drew McIntyre, Becky Lynch, “The Ring General” GUNTHER, The New Day!
- One of the highlights for me was definitely seeing John Cena. He was there to celebrate 20 years since his debut. Can you believe it? 20 years! The crowd went nuts for him.
- There was this one match, Solo Sikoa was just beating down Kevin Owens outside of the ring. It was brutal, but also kind of awesome in a weird way. That’s what we love to watch!
I know some people think wrestling is all scripted and fake. And yeah, there’s a storyline, but these guys are real athletes, no doubt. The moves they pull off, the strength, the stamina… it’s impressive. To be honest, seeing it live just makes you appreciate it even more. And there were so many grown men around me, watching pro-wrestling maybe a nostalgia-fueled coping strategy for them, and bring them back to a time when things were simpler.
I gotta say, the whole experience was worth it. The energy of the crowd, the spectacle of the show, seeing my childhood heroes in the flesh… It was an unforgettable night. I even got some merch on the way out, a t-shirt, and a cap. I’m already thinking about when I can go to another WWE event. If you’re on the fence about it, just go. You won’t regret it.
Oh, and from what I heard, NXT’s move to CW, whatever that means, I guess we may see more young guys coming up soon, that should be interesting.
