Okay, so I was trying to put together a 5-minute comedy drama thing, you know, just for kicks. And man, finding a good script for free? It’s like looking for a needle in a haystack!
I started by hitting up Google, just typing in “5 minutes comedy drama script free” and hoping for the best. The first few results were kinda meh, you know, the usual stuff. But then I remembered some advice I saw online once: “If you want to find a funny (humorous) skit, go to Short Comedy Scripts. Or if you need a script for two performers.” Sounded simple enough, right?
So, I went down that road. I stumbled upon a site called Lazy Bee Scripts. They had a ton of stuff, like, 981 plays or something! It was a bit overwhelming, but they had categories, which was helpful. I started clicking around, looking at their “Comedy” and “Drama” sections. They even had a “Farce” section, which I thought was kinda funny.
After browsing for a while, I found a couple of scripts that looked promising. They were short and seemed easy enough to act out, which was exactly what I was looking for. I mean, who wants to memorize a whole novel, right? One of the scripts was called “Carry a Stuffy” which was a monologue from a play named “Bullied.” Seemed interesting. Another one said, “Genre: COMEDY/DRAMA/MONOLOGUE PLAY Cast: MALE (FEMALE) Setting: AN OFFICE Age range: 20-50s Running time: Approximately 5 minutes Great for: Competitions.” This one looked like it could be fun to do. And the best part? They were totally free! No more excuses, I guess! I mean, who wants to memorize a whole novel, right?
I spent some time reading through a few of them, trying to imagine how they’d play out. Some were kinda cheesy, but a few actually made me chuckle. I even started thinking about who I could rope into acting them out with me. My buddy Tom is always up for a laugh, so maybe I’ll hit him up.
Here’s what I ended up doing:
- Searched on Google for “5 minutes comedy drama script free”.
- Followed the advice: “If you want to find a funny (humorous) skit, go to Short Comedy Scripts. Or if you need a script for two performers.”
- Explored Lazy Bee Scripts and browsed through their categories.
- Found a couple of promising scripts that were short and free.
- Read through a few scripts and imagined how they would play out.
Anyway, it was a fun little adventure. I didn’t find the perfect script yet, but I definitely got some good leads. And it reminded me that there are tons of resources out there if you just know where to look. Now, I just gotta convince someone to act these out with me. Wish me luck!

It was a fun little adventure! I didn’t find the perfect script yet, but I definitely got some good leads. It reminded me that there are tons of resources out there if you just know where to look. I should keep exploring and see what else I can find. Maybe I’ll even try writing my own script someday!
