Okay, so, I’ve been trying to find some good Carnatic music concerts around the Bay Area, you know, those traditional South Indian classical music performances. It’s been a bit of a hunt, let me tell you!
First, I started by browsing through a bunch of websites and let me say it was not easy. I tried to search a lot of websites and stuff. I was kind of annoyed by digging around all these different sites, trying to find concert listings. I wanted a simple way to find this kind of concerts. That’s when I stumbled upon this “Concerts in Cali” thing. They promised to keep me updated on all the concerts, which sounded pretty good.
Then, I heard about this organization called Carnatic Chamber Concerts, or CCC for short. They focus on helping young people in the Bay Area who are into Carnatic music. They put on monthly performances, which is a great way for these young musicians to get experience and show off their skills. I went to their website and read a lot. It seems that they support a lot of young people.
I also found out about this website that lists Carnatic events and concerts in North America. I used their search feature, and it gave me a whole bunch of upcoming events to check out. It felt like I finally found a good source!
I read more about CCC, and I found out that they’re all about promoting Indian classical music among the local youth. They host these monthly events where up-and-coming artists can perform. It’s a really cool way to keep this traditional music alive and kicking.
Another thing I discovered is this “LOTUS Bay Area” group. They’re organizing their annual Tyagaraja Aradhana, which is a big Carnatic music festival. It’s going to be a four-day event with lots of singing, including the Pancharatnam. Also, I found that Balaji Temple and Sambodh Vedic Cultural Center are organizing Bay Area Margazhi Vaibhavam. I wrote down all these things and plan to attend.
I also learned a bit about when kids should start learning Carnatic music. Apparently, the best age is between 7 and 10 years old. That’s when they can read and write and understand what they’re being taught.
At first, I thought it would be tough to find Carnatic concerts around here, but after doing some digging, I found some great resources. There’s a lot more going on than I initially thought. I have been to some concerts and it was awesome.
