So, I stumbled upon this artist online, goes by Iguanamouth. What a name, right? Anyway, I wanted to check out some of their comics. It all started because I saw this one drawing of theirs, a dragon hoarding, like, a mountain of random stuff. It was so cool and weird, I had to see more.
I started digging around to find more of their stuff. I saw that they did a whole series on these dragons, each one hoarding different things. It wasn’t just gold and jewels like in those old stories, but like, everyday objects. One was guarding a pile of socks, another one was surrounded by rubber ducks. It’s such a funny and unique take on the whole dragon thing.
Commissioning My Own Dragon
I was so into it that I decided I wanted one of my own. I found out that Iguanamouth takes commissions, so I jumped on that chance. After being put on a waitlist that felt like forever, they finally got back to me! And man, was it worth the wait.
- The Idea: I wanted a dragon, obviously, but I wanted it to be hoarding something special to me. After some thinking, I settled on… board games. Yeah, I’m a huge board game nerd, and I have a pretty massive collection.
- The Process: We went back and forth a bit on the details. What kind of dragon did I want? What kind of board games? What was the overall vibe? It was a really fun process, bouncing ideas around and seeing my vision slowly come to life.
- The Result: They sent me the final piece, and I was blown away. It was even better than I imagined. There it was, my dragon, majestic and fierce, surrounded by a mountain of my favorite board games. There were dice scattered everywhere, meeples spilling out of boxes, and the dragon looked so proud of its collection.
I know, it’s just a drawing, but it’s a drawing that’s totally unique and personalized to me. It’s like Iguanamouth reached into my brain, pulled out my love for dragons and board games, and mashed them together into this one awesome piece of art. It’s definitely one of my most prized possessions now, sitting proudly on my wall. This whole experience really showed me the power of art, and how it can capture not just images, but also feelings and passions. Seriously, if you’re into quirky and creative stuff, you gotta check out Iguanamouth’s work.
Oh, and I also saw some people requesting gryphons. Maybe I’ll get a gryphon next, hoarding, I don’t know, dice? Or maybe another one is an alligator guarding a pumpkin? That’s also one of the ideas that pop out. I don’t know, I’ll see.
