So, I’ve been wanting to get into this whole “channel hiking” thing for a while now. Sounds cool, right? You get to watch other people hike, see some awesome views, and maybe get inspired for your own adventures. Well, I finally decided to dive in, and let me tell you, it’s been a bit of a learning curve.
First thing I did was try to figure out what channel hiking actually was. Turns out, it’s not some official sport or anything. More like people just watching other folks hike online. I stumbled upon a mention in a chat about someone streaming on Kick and getting an offer to start channel hiking, which got me even more curious.
Next, I needed to find some channels to watch. I figured YouTube would be a good place to start, and I was right. Typed in “hiking channels” and boom, tons of options. I found this one channel called “Stella Hikes” – apparently, this lady named Stella used to work for some outdoor company and now she’s doing her own thing. Her videos are pretty chill, just her walking around, showing the trails. Good stuff.
Then I started thinking about maybe doing this myself someday. I mean, how hard could it be, right? Just walk around with a camera. But then I read about all the stuff you gotta think about, like where to park your car, making sure the trails are actually maintained, you know, basic stuff. There was this guide I found, “Outdoor Tech Lab,” that talked about day hiking essentials. Made me realize it’s not just about pointing a camera and walking.
I even looked up hiking in Taiwan. Seems like they have some really nice trails there, some easy, some not so easy. That’s definitely on my bucket list now.
So, after a few days of watching videos and reading up on it, here’s what I’ve gathered about channel hiking:
- It’s a great way to see new places. Even if you can’t physically be there, you can still experience it through someone else’s eyes.
- It can be really inspiring. Watching these hikers push themselves makes you want to get out there and do it too.
- It’s not as easy as it looks. There’s a lot of planning that goes into it, from choosing the right trails to making sure you have the right gear.
- It’s a good way to learn about hiking. I’ve picked up a lot of tips just from watching other people’s videos.
Overall, I’m really digging this whole channel hiking thing. It’s a fun way to explore the outdoors without even leaving your house. And who knows, maybe one day I’ll even start my own channel. We’ll see. For now, I’m happy just being a viewer.
