Okay, so the other day I was messing around online, and I stumbled upon this idea for making survival quizzes. I thought, “Why not give it a shot?” So, I did.
First things first, I needed a platform to create these quizzes. After looking around a bit, I decided to go with a free online quiz making tool. It seemed pretty straightforward and easy to use. I set up an account and started brainstorming some quiz ideas.
I figured the best way to start was with a classic survival scenario: the zombie apocalypse. I mean, who hasn’t thought about what they’d do if the undead started roaming the streets? I started jotting down some questions, like “What’s your go-to weapon?” and “How would you secure a safe location?” You know, the basics.
After I had a good list of questions for the zombie quiz, I started thinking about other scenarios. I made a wilderness survival quiz, because let’s be real, I get lost pretty easily, even in familiar places. The questions for that one were more about skills, like starting a fire, finding water, and building a shelter.
Here’s a breakdown of what I did for each quiz:
- Zombie Apocalypse Quiz:
- Brainstormed questions about weapon choices, survival strategies, and group dynamics.
- Created multiple-choice answers with varying degrees of effectiveness.
- Set up a scoring system to determine the user’s survival rate.
- Wilderness Survival Quiz:
- Researched essential survival skills and common mistakes.
- Crafted questions that tested knowledge of fire starting, shelter building, water sourcing, and signaling.
- Developed a scoring system that reflected the importance of each skill.
Once I had both quizzes built out, I started working on the results. I wanted them to be fun but also kind of informative. For the zombie quiz, I created different levels of survival, ranging from “Zombie Bait” to “Ultimate Survivor.” For the wilderness quiz, I used ranks like “Lost in the Backyard” to “Wilderness Warrior.”
Sharing the Quizzes
Then I did a test run with some friends to get feedback. They actually had a lot of fun with them, and they gave me some good ideas for improving the questions and results. After making some tweaks, I felt like the quizzes were ready to go. I posted them on my social media and invited people to try them out.
Calculating Scores
The quiz platform automatically calculated scores based on the answers. Each correct answer earned a certain number of points, and the total points determined the user’s survival level or rank. Pretty simple stuff. For example, if there were 10 questions and someone got 7 right, their score would be 70%. I made sure that the scoring made sense for each scenario.
So yeah, that’s how I spent my weekend making survival quizzes. It was a fun little project, and it got me thinking more about what I would actually do in those situations. I realized I have a lot to learn, especially about wilderness survival. Maybe I should take a course or something.
