So, I got this idea to make a poster, you know, for that movie “Friends with Benefits”. I’ve always been kinda into graphic design, just messing around with it as a hobby. I thought, “Why not give it a shot?” I’ve seen the movie a bunch of times, and I’ve got some thoughts on what would make a cool poster. It’s not like I’m a pro or anything, but I figured it’d be a fun little project.
First off, I needed to get some pictures. I did some digging around and found some high-res images from the movie. There’s this one shot of Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis, the main actors, that I really liked. They’re looking at each other, kind of playful but also a bit intense, you know? That seemed like the perfect vibe for the poster. I saved that picture, it’s like 800 by 1182 pixels, so pretty decent quality.
Then, I started thinking about the layout. I wanted something simple, but not boring. I decided to put the image of Justin and Mila front and center. After all, they’re the stars, right? Below the picture, I put the movie title, “Friends with Benefits”, in a bold, eye-catching font. I played around with different fonts for a while, but ended up choosing one that felt modern and a little bit edgy. And in the corner, I added “Directed by Will Gluck”, because, hey, the director deserves some credit, too!
- Find some pictures:
-
- Some high-res images.
- One shot of Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis.
- 800 by 1182 pixels.
- Think about layout:
-
- Image of Justin and Mila front.
- Movie title in bold font.
- “Directed by Will Gluck”.
I also wanted to include a tagline. Something that captures the essence of the movie. I brainstormed a few ideas, wrote them down, crossed them out, started over. Eventually, I settled on “A young man and woman decide to take their friendship to the next level without becoming a couple.” I thought it was pretty spot-on, describing the main plot without giving too much away. I put that tagline right under the movie title, in a slightly smaller font.
The background was the last thing I worked on. I didn’t want anything too distracting, but a plain white background felt too bland. I experimented with different colors and gradients until I found a combination that I liked. It’s kind of a gradient, transitioning from a light color at the top to a darker one at the bottom. It gives the poster a bit of depth, I think.
Put everything together
Once I had all the elements, it was just a matter of putting them all together. I used some free online design tool, it is pretty user-friendly, even for someone like me who’s not a design expert. I imported the image, added the text, adjusted the colors, and moved things around until it looked just right. It took a few hours of tweaking and adjusting, but eventually, I was happy with the result.
I’m not gonna lie, I’m pretty proud of how it turned out. It’s not perfect, but it’s definitely better than I expected. It’s got that cool, casual vibe I was going for, and I think it really captures the spirit of the movie. It’s a bit rough around the edges, just like me and my design skills, but that’s part of the charm, right? I’m thinking about printing it out and hanging it up in my room. Or maybe I’ll make it my desktop background. We’ll see. Anyways, that’s the story of how I made a “Friends with Benefits” movie poster. Just a little project I did for fun, and I thought I’d share it with you all. Maybe it’ll inspire someone else to try their hand at design, too.
