Okay, so, I wanted to share my recent deep dive into the world of “loboleo comics.” It’s been quite a ride, and I figured, why not document the whole process?
First off, I got wind of this artist, LoboleoLEO, who’s apparently been in the game for over 15 years. The guy’s a self-taught artist from Chile, which I thought was pretty cool. So, I started digging around to see what his deal was.
I stumbled upon his Patreon page, where it seems like he shares a lot of his newest stuff. From what I gathered, it’s the place to be if you’re into his TF comics. It said “Get more from LoboLEO on Patreon.” There’s also a bunch of stuff about getting to vote on which comic he works on next. Sounds like he’s trying to keep things interactive with his fans.
Then, I went over to DeviantArt to check out his gallery, just to get a feel for his style. I browsed through his profile and was inspired by the range of his work. It is said that “LoboleoLEO is a self-learned artist who lives in Chile who for the past 15+ years have …”. I saw a mix of different themes and characters. He’s got a pretty distinct look, that’s for sure.
I did a little more snooping around and found some folks talking about how you don’t need to be a hardcore comic expert to get into his stuff. One comment I saw said, “There is no prior knowledge needed of any character, lore, or history.” That’s a relief because, honestly, I’m not super deep into the comic book world.
Another thing that caught my eye was this whole Patreon model he’s got going on. Apparently, becoming a patron gets you early access to his comics, and it’s not just about getting content. They say “It’s free to start. And it’s the only platform that actively works to help you get discovered by new patrons.” I guess it’s a way for him to connect more directly with his audience and get some support.
I even found a blurb where he mentioned something about extra stuff for his patrons. It said, “Unless you really care for the extra stuff that I’ve compiled. That said this …” That sounded intriguing, so I kept that in mind.
So, after all this exploring, I decided to take the plunge and become a patron myself. I mean, the guy’s been doing this for 15+ years, he must be doing something right. And I figured, worst case, I’d get to see some cool art and support an independent artist. Seemed like a win-win. And I’ve been enjoying his art since then, and it does not make me disappointed.
