Okay, so I’ve got this thing I gotta share about the “Go West Film Festival” that I went to recently. It was a whole experience, let me tell you.
It all started when I heard about this festival from a buddy of mine. He was like, “Dude, you gotta check this out, it’s gonna be awesome.” I was kinda on the fence, you know, not really into film festivals, but I figured, why not? Might be something cool there.
So, I grabbed a ticket online – super easy, by the way. The festival was being held at this place called “Chuncheon Art Center,” way out in Gangwon-do. Sounded kinda remote, but I was down for an adventure. I checked the address, it was something like Sports Town Road 399, number 25. Not the easiest place to find, if I’m being honest.
The day of the festival, I hopped on a bus and made my way there. Took a while, but the scenery was pretty nice. Once I got to Chuncheon, I had to figure out the local buses. Found some info with a phone number 033-818-3200, which I think was the local information center, maybe?
When I finally arrived at the Art Center, it was bustling. Lots of people milling around, checking out the different booths and stuff. I wandered around a bit, soaking it all in. They had all sorts of things going on – screenings, talks with filmmakers, even some food stalls. It was pretty overwhelming, but in a good way.
I ended up catching a couple of short films. One was about this guy, some Harry Bailey type, getting his Master’s degree. Seemed like a smart guy. Another one was just a bunch of random clips, but it was strangely captivating. They weren’t really blockbusters or anything, but they were interesting, you know? Made you think.
- Watched a few short films, all pretty unique.
- Chatted with a few people, mostly about the films.
- Ate some street food, wasn’t half bad.
- Enjoyed the general vibe of the festival, lots of creative energy.
By the end of the day, I was pretty beat. But I gotta say, it was a good day. I went in not expecting much, and I came out feeling like I’d experienced something special. It wasn’t just about the films, it was the whole atmosphere, the people, the conversations. It was like stepping into a different world for a few hours.
Overall Impressions
Would I go again? Yeah, probably. It’s not something I’d do every weekend, but it’s definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for something different. Just be prepared for a bit of a trek to get there, and maybe brush up on your Korean if you wanna chat with the locals. It’s a cool little event, tucked away in the middle of nowhere, and I’m glad I went.
