Okay, so, I finally got my hands on that SA Sports Fever crossbow I’ve been eyeing. Under 150 bucks, which is a steal, right? First thing I did was rip open the box – gotta love that new crossbow smell. Inside, they packed the crossbow itself, a 4×32 scope (which is pretty standard), a padded sling (nice touch), a quick-detach quiver, and some bolts to get started.
Putting it together was a breeze. Seriously, less than 30 minutes, and I’m no expert. Started by attaching the limb protectors and the foot stirrup. Then, slotted the limb into the stock – easy peasy. Once those were joined, it was time to string the thing. The instructions were clear enough, even for a dummy like me.

What I Got In The Box
Now, this thing is light, under 5 pounds, which is great for carrying around. But it’s also got a hefty draw weight – 175 pounds. They include a rope-cocking device, which definitely helps. Without it, I’d probably throw out my back trying to cock it. I followed the steps, attached the rope cocker and pulled it, after several times practice, it is much easier.
The real question is, can you hunt with it? It’s definitely powerful enough to take down a deer, no doubt. But honestly, from my tests in the backyard, the accuracy isn’t quite there yet. I’m hitting the target, but not consistently enough for me to feel good about taking an ethical shot at a live animal. So, for now, it’s staying home.
Overall, I’m happy with the purchase. It’s a fun crossbow to shoot, and for the price, you can’t really beat it. I’ll keep practicing and see if I can tighten up those groupings. Maybe someday it’ll be ready for the field, but for now, it’s a great backyard plinker.
