Hey everyone, I’ve been meaning to talk about this for a while, and today’s the day. I dove into something called “The Hollows” series by Kim Harrison, and boy, was it a ride! I started because I heard some chatter about a possible TV series, and I wanted to see what the fuss was about.
First off, I had to figure out where to begin. This series is huge! I found out there are like, 19 books or something. So, I dug around and discovered a list of all these books in order. I’m talking about the main series, plus some extra stuff like graphic novels and short stories. It’s a lot to take in, I won’t lie.
Finding the Starting Point
I saw that the first book is called “Dead Witch Walking,” but there’s also a prequel called “The Turn.” I decided to start with “Dead Witch Walking” because that’s where the main story kicks off. I figured I could always go back to the prequel later if I wanted to.
Getting Into the Story
Once I started reading, I was hooked. The main character, Rachel Morgan, she’s a witch, but not your typical pointy-hat kind. She’s more like a bounty hunter, dealing with all sorts of supernatural creatures. Vampires, werewolves, you name it. It’s a wild world that Kim Harrison created.
Digging Deeper
- Read the main books: I focused on the main series first, following the list I found.
- Checked out some extras: After a few books, I started looking at some of the short stories. They added some cool background info.
- Looked into the TV series talk: While I was reading, I kept an eye out for any news about a TV adaptation. There’s some buzz, but nothing solid yet.
I went through a few of the books, and each one was a whole adventure. Rachel gets into all sorts of trouble, and there’s always something new to learn about this crazy world. I found myself staying up late just to read one more chapter.
Keeping Track of It All
To keep everything straight, I started a little journal. I wrote down the titles, the order I read them in, and some notes about the characters and plot. It helped me remember all the details, especially since there are so many books in the series.
So, that’s where I’m at with “The Hollows.” I’ve read a good chunk of the series, and I’m still going. It’s been a fun escape, and I can totally see why people are excited about a potential TV series. If you’re into urban fantasy with a tough heroine and a ton of action, you might want to check it out. Just be prepared to clear your schedule, because once you start, it’s hard to stop!
