Alright, so listen up, y’all. I heard about this thing, a big to-do, they call it the “BX-Anime & Comic Expo 2024”. Sounds fancy, huh? Don’t know much about these “an-ee-may” or “comics,” but from what I gather, it’s gonna be a big ol’ gathering.
Now, they’re holdin’ this shindig on Saturday, August 3, 2024. Mark your calendars if you’re into that kinda stuff. It’s gonna be at the St. Helena’s Roman Catholic Church, over in the Bronx. Yeah, the Bronx! Never thought I’d hear about fancy events like this in the Bronx, but hey, times are changin’, I guess.
This fella, Jcee Delacruz, he’s the one puttin’ it all together, seems like. And some group called lone__wolf_comics is involved too. They callin’ it the 1st Annual King’s Festival, which makes it sound mighty important. Maybe they’ll have kings and queens there, who knows?
They say it’s a “convention,” which I reckon means a whole bunch of folks gettin’ together. Specifically, folks who like this “an-ee-may” stuff. I heard tell it’s like them cartoons from Japan. You know, the ones with the big eyes and wild hair? Yeah, that’s the stuff. And comics, well, those are like picture books for grown-ups, ain’t they?
I ain’t never been to one of these “expos” before, but they say it’s a big deal. People dress up like their favorite characters, they sell all sorts of trinkets and knick-knacks, and I guess they just have a good ol’ time. Sounds lively, that’s for sure.
- When: Saturday, August 3, 2024
- Where: St. Helena’s Roman Catholic Church, The Bronx
- What: BX-Anime & Comic Expo 2024, also called the 1st Annual King’s Festival
- Who: Organized by Jcee Delacruz and lone__wolf_comics
Now, I also heard about this other big event, the Anime Expo, or AX as they call it. That one’s out in Los Angeles, a whole ‘nother world away from the Bronx. Apparently, it’s the biggest darn thing of its kind in all of North America. They had it in July, and wouldn’t you know it, it was all sold out! Hundreds of thousands of people showed up, spendin’ a whole heap of money. Millions, they say! Can you believe that? All for them cartoons and comics.
But this BX-Anime & Comic Expo, it’s the first of its kind here in the Bronx, I think. So it might be a smaller affair, but that don’t mean it ain’t gonna be fun. Maybe it’s a good place to start if you’re new to all this “an-ee-may” and “comic” business. You can go and see what all the fuss is about without gettin’ lost in a sea of people like you would in Los Angeles.
Anyway, that’s the gist of it. If you’re lookin’ for somethin’ to do on August 3rd and you like them cartoons or picture books, head on over to St. Helena’s in the Bronx. Who knows, you might even see me there, wanderin’ around, tryin’ to figure out what a “cosplay” is. Just kidding, probably won’t catch me there, but you go on and have yourself a good time.
And if you miss this one, well, there’s always next year, right? Maybe this BX-Anime & Comic Expo will become a regular thing. Only time will tell, I reckon.
So, there you have it. Everything I know about this BX-Anime & Comic Expo 2024, straight from the horse’s mouth, so to speak. Now go on and spread the word.
