Okay, so, today I wanted to get into something I’ve been meaning to check out for a while – “The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen” comics. I’d heard good things about it, you know, the whole idea of mixing up these classic literary characters into one team. Sounds pretty rad, right?
First off, I had to figure out where to even start. I did a little digging around, and there are a bunch of volumes and editions, it got me a bit confused. Like, do I read them in the order they were published? Or is there some special chronological order? Ended up deciding to just go with the published order. Seemed like the simplest way to do it. I saw some folks online saying the “new travelers almanac” at the end of volume 2 is important, so I guess I’ll be paying attention to those text bits at the end of each book, too.
Now, where to find these comics? My local library came to mind first. I mean, free books? Yes, please! So, I went there and searched their online catalog. Found some of the volumes, which was awesome.
I found some about “The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen”, and they’re all grouped under the main series name. Cool, that’ll make it easier to find all the parts. I ended up finding out that the stories are a mix of different literary heroes. The leader is apparently Mina Murray. That got me interested, so I tried to read it online.
I went ahead and found out that the comic was written by a guy called Alan Moore. I kept reading and managed to get through a good chunk of the first volume. It’s pretty wild, the way all these characters come together. And the art, it’s got this cool, old-timey vibe that I’m really digging.
To sum it up:
- Started: Figured out the reading order (published order).
- Searched: Library catalog.
- Found: Some of the comics, especially the ones related to Mina Murray.
- Read: A good part of volume one.
So, yeah, that’s where I’m at with “The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen”. It’s been a fun little adventure so far, diving into this comic world. Definitely going to keep reading and see where this crazy story goes.
