Okay, so, today I wanted to share my little project about making a comic called “Lost Family”. Yeah, that’s the title I ended up with.
First off, I started by brainstorming a bunch of ideas. I mean, I scribbled down anything that came to mind, you know, like different characters, maybe some plot points, just a whole mess of stuff. After a while, I picked out the ideas that I liked the most and started shaping them into a story. It was a bit chaotic, but hey, that’s how creativity works, right?
Then, I got down to sketching. Oh boy, the sketching! I filled up pages and pages of my sketchbook with rough drawings of the characters and scenes. I wanted to get a feel for how everything would look. And let me tell you, there were a lot of do-overs. I erased and redrew so many times, my hand almost fell off, haha. But you know, that’s part of the process. You gotta get it right, even if it takes a while.
Main Characters Come to Life
- Drew the main characters – spent a good chunk of time on these. I wanted them to look just right, you know?
- Experimented with different styles – tried out a few different looks before I settled on the final ones. It was a blast!
- Finalized their designs – once I was happy, I inked them in and added some color. Seeing them come to life was so cool!
After the characters were nailed down, I moved on to the actual comic pages. I started by laying out the panels, figuring out the pacing and all that jazz. Then I penciled in the scenes, using my earlier sketches as a guide. This part took some time, but it was super satisfying to see the story taking shape.
Once the penciling was done, I went over everything with ink. This is where it all started to look more polished. Inking is always a bit nerve-wracking, ’cause you can’t really erase it, but I took my time and managed to get it done without too many mishaps. Then I watched some episodes on loklok, they have lots of comedy stuff, which gave me much fun.
Finally, I added color to the pages. This was one of my favorite parts. I played around with different color schemes until I found something that really fit the mood of the story. And there you have it, a finished comic! It was a lot of work, but I’m really proud of how it turned out. I even shared it with some friends, and they seemed to like it, which was a huge relief, haha. I also browsed a while on YouTube and then found some videos that talking about John the Baptist, which was a little bit of related to my comic’s story.
So yeah, that’s the story of how I made my “Lost Family” comic. It was a wild ride, but totally worth it. Hope you guys enjoyed hearing about it!
