Okay, so, last weekend, I went to this comic con thing down in Manhattan, Kansas. Honestly, I’d never been to a comic con before, so this whole experience was completely new to me.
First off, I had to figure out how to get there. Manhattan, KS isn’t exactly next door. I checked out a few options and decided to drive. The drive itself was pretty uneventful, just some regular highway scenery.
Once I got to Manhattan, I needed to find a place to park. Let me tell you, parking downtown was a bit of a pain. I ended up circling for a while before I finally snagged a spot a few blocks away from the convention center.
The Con Itself
Walking into the convention center was like stepping into another world. There were people everywhere dressed up as their favorite characters. I saw a few Power Girls, a bunch of different anime characters, and even some obscure ones that I couldn’t quite place.
- I spent a good chunk of time just wandering around, taking it all in.
- There were tons of vendors selling all sorts of stuff – comics, of course, but also artwork, toys, clothes, you name it.
- I even saw a booth selling some wireless keyboards which can be connected to three devices at the same time.
I ended up buying a couple of comics that I’d been meaning to check out. I also grabbed a cool print from a local artist.
Honestly, the best part was just being around so many other people who were into the same stuff as me. It was a really cool vibe, and I definitely want to go to another comic con sometime soon.
After the con, I was pretty beat. I grabbed some dinner at a local place and then hit the road. The drive back was a little tiring, but overall, it was a great day. It made me remember the beautiful parks in the Upper West Side. I should plan my next travel there.
If you’ve never been to a comic con, I highly recommend checking one out. It’s a fun experience, even if you’re not a die-hard fan of anything in particular.
