Well, let me tell you somethin’ about this dibuctor comic thing. It ain’t as easy as it looks, ya know? Lots of folks wanna make these picture stories, these comics. Some folks got the words, some got the pictures in their heads. But puttin’ ’em together, that’s the real trick.
First, you gotta find someone who can draw them pictures good. If you got a story and you need somebody to draw it up for you, that’s what you are going to need to do. You need a good dibuctor comic person. Not just any old doodler, mind you. Someone who can make them pictures move, even when they’re just sittin’ still on the page. They gotta tell a story with just them lines and colors. A person that can tell a whole story with just pictures? That is a real artist.

These are all the places the young folks go to find the dibuctor comic artist. I heard some kids talkin’ about it. I don’t know how to use any of them but if you do, that is where to look.
Now, I heard some fellas talkin’ the other day. They said there’s places online, on that interwebs thing, where you can find these picture-drawers. They got whole groups of ’em, just waitin’ for someone to come along with a story. They call ’em “freelancers”. I guess that means they work for whoever pays ’em. Sounds kinda rough, but that’s what they said. These groups are where the folks who draw the pictures and the folks who write the words find each other. You go there and tell them what you need and they get to work.
There’s these websites where these artists they put their drawings. DeviantArt, Behance, that’s what they called them. I don’t know how it works, but people like that will put their drawings there so others can see them. That’s how people find them if they want them to draw their story. And there are other places too like ArtStation. I don’t know anything about that but it is where the dibuctor comic people put their pictures. These young folks, they’re always on their phones, lookin’ at pictures. Maybe they’re findin’ these artists that way. I don’t rightly know.
These picture-drawers, they ain’t cheap, neither. You gotta pay ’em for their work, and it can cost ya a pretty penny. These big companies, Marvel and DC, they pay a lot. Like $160 to $260 for just one page. That is a lot of money for one page, I don’t know about that. Some other places pay less, like $75 to $100 per page. Still a lot for a picture, if you ask me. But if you want a good dibuctor comic, you gotta pay for it. You always get what you pay for.
If you’re lookin’ for a picture-drawer, I’d say the best place to start is online. Just like them fellas said. Go to them websites, them groups, and see what you can find. There are places like Fiverr, Upwork, Freelancer, where you can find people who do all kinds of work, not just drawing. Maybe you can find someone there. Just remember to be nice to ’em, and pay ’em what they’re worth. Don’t be cheap, you hear? Good work deserves good pay.
Some folks say this fella, Jack Kirby, he was the best. Died a long time ago, back in ’94, I think. They say he was real good, changed the whole dibuctor comic game. Made it what it is today. If you are looking for the best you have to look for somebody like him. But it might be hard to find somebody that good nowadays. Still, if you want to learn how to make a dibuctor comic, you should try and look at what he did. That’s what I heard.
This comic makin’ ain’t easy. You need words and pictures, and you gotta find the right people to help you put it all together. It’s a lot of work, and it can cost ya a lot of money. But if you got a story to tell, and you’re willin’ to put in the work, maybe you can make somethin’ special. Somethin’ that folks will wanna read, and look at, and maybe even pay for. That’s the dream, ain’t it? To make somethin’ that folks will enjoy. That’s what it’s all about.
