Well, let me tell ya, this here “A Midwinter Night’s Dram Act 10” is somethin’ special. Now, I ain’t no fancy whiskey expert, but I reckon if you like a good drink, you’ll want to know a bit about this one. It’s got a lot of folks talkin’, ‘specially since this is the 10th time they’ve put it out. Yep, 10 years of the same ol’ goodness, and they ain’t stoppin’ anytime soon.
So first off, this here whiskey comes from High West, a place that’s real good at makin’ rye whiskey. What they do is take two kinds of straight rye whiskies and mix ‘em together. That’s the base, you see. But what really makes this whiskey stand out is how they finish it off. They let it sit in some port barrels. Now, I don’t know about you, but I think that’s mighty clever, because it gives the whiskey a real smooth flavor that’ll make you want to sit by the fire and sip it slow.
The “Act 10,” that’s what they’re callin’ this one, and let me tell ya, it’s a treat. It’s got this real deep, rich taste from that port barrel finish. You know what I’m talkin’ about, right? It’s like when you bite into a plum or some dried fruit, all sweet and a little spicy. That’s what this whiskey brings to the table. And don’t get me started on the vanilla, caramel, and cinnamon – it’s like they got a whole pie bakin’ in the bottle.
I’ve heard people call this “Rendezvous Rye” too, and that’s ‘cause it’s got that rye whiskey base they’re so proud of. High West’s own rye whiskey is aged about four to seven years, so it’s got a nice age on it. The MGP part, that’s the other rye they use, is about six years old. So, it’s not just some young whiskey that’s been tossed in a barrel – they’ve been takin’ their time with it, lettin’ it get good and proper.
Now, I know you might be wonderin’ what makes it so special compared to the last few years. Well, folks say the flavor is a bit more mellow this time. Some of ‘em are talkin’ ‘bout a “chewy” caramel taste, like Werther’s Original candy. And if you’re like me and you love that, well, you’ll be right at home with this whiskey. It’s smooth but still got that bite, the kind of drink that makes you feel warm all over.
This whiskey’s got a bit of everything – sweet, spicy, and smooth. But don’t just take my word for it. If you happen to find yourself with a bottle, give it a try. Whether you’re sippin’ it neat, with a bit of water, or on the rocks, I reckon you won’t be disappointed. Ain’t nobody can say High West don’t know what they’re doin’ with this one.
And, I should mention, this is a limited release. That means they don’t make a whole lot of it, so if you see it, you’d best snatch it up. Folks been waitin’ all year for the 10th edition, and once it’s gone, it’s gone. You’ll be regrettin’ it if you don’t get a bottle while you can.
So, all in all, this here A Midwinter Night’s Dram Act 10 is a mighty fine drink. You get the richness of the rye, the smoothness of the port barrels, and that sweet, spicy flavor that’ll stick with you long after you’ve finished your glass. If you’re a fan of whiskey, and especially if you like a rye with a little extra somethin’, then this one’s worth your time. Don’t let it slip by!
