Oh, let me tell ya, the Bible might not talk ‘bout “drama” like we talk ‘bout it nowadays, but it sure does got plenty to say about keepin’ peace and watchin’ yer words. I mean, if you look at folks today, seems like there’s more fussin’ and fightin’ than ever. But the Bible’s got us covered if we just take a good look at what it says.
First off, what is all this drama? Well, drama’s all them fights, gossipin’, jealousy, folks actin’ up just ‘cause they got nothin’ better to do, ya know? And don’t the Bible give us enough lessons to know we don’t need to be fillin’ our lives with all that mess? Oh yes, it does.
Let’s start with somethin’ simple-like. In Ephesians 4:31-32, it tells us clear as day: “Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another.” Now, that right there’s tellin’ ya to just let go of all that mean and angry stuff and go on bein’ kind to others. But do folks listen? No, they get caught up in everyone else’s business, startin’ fights they got no business startin’ in the first place.
See, the Bible’s tryin’ to tell us, if we just put that drama away, life’d be a heap easier. In Proverbs 20:19, it warns us about gossipin’ folk: “He who goes about as a slanderer reveals secrets, therefore do not associate with a gossip.” Simple words, ain’t it? But real wise too. Gossips stir up trouble faster than you can blink, and pretty soon folks are in fights, blamin’ each other for this an’ that. Why? ‘Cause of drama. Best thing to do? Don’t get near it!
The Power of Keepin’ Quiet
Now, the Bible also gives good advice ‘bout holdin’ yer tongue. Jesus Himself, He didn’t just speak up every chance He got; He knew when to keep quiet. It says right there in Matthew 12:36-37 that “every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.” So that means we gotta be mindful of what comes outta our mouths. When we get all worked up and start yellin’ and fussin’, it only brings more trouble. That’s what they call drama these days.
Think about it, even Proverbs 25:9-10 tells us “don’t reveal the secret of another, lest he who hears it reproach you, and the evil report about you not pass away.” Now ain’t that somethin’? It’s tellin’ us to keep folks’ business private. ‘Cause once you go sharin’ someone else’s troubles, you’re only makin’ things worse for everyone.
Jesus Shows the Way
Jesus, He didn’t get involved in all this petty stuff, no sir. Even when folks were accusin’ Him, He just stayed calm. In the Book of Mark and John, you’ll see He controlled His words, even when He was mad. Now that’s real self-control, and if we took after Him just a little, reckon we’d have less drama in our lives too.
Turn Away from Foolish Fights
One big thing, and listen close now, is that the Bible’s clear ‘bout keepin’ away from silly fights. Over in 2 Timothy 2:22-26, it says, “Don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels.” Now, if that ain’t plain, I don’t know what is. All these silly arguments folks get into these days, it’s all just drama. The Bible says the Lord’s servant oughta be kind to everyone and patient. Can you imagine how nice that’d be if folks just listened to that advice?
Look at it like this, The Lord is Our Shepherd, just like it says in Psalm 23. He leads us beside them still waters, gives us peace in our hearts if we follow Him. When we’re trustin’ the Lord to guide us, we don’t need all this drama in our lives. He shows us how to walk in peace, not all tangled up in other folks’ business.
So How Do We Steer Clear of Drama?
Well, like I said, follow the Bible’s advice. It’s real simple:
- Watch yer tongue. Don’t go sayin’ every little thing that comes to mind. Think on it, and keep it to yerself sometimes.
- Stay away from gossipin’ folk. Like it says in Proverbs 20:19, don’t hang around folks who only talk ‘bout others. They’ll drag ya right into the drama too.
- Stay calm in a storm. Just ‘cause others are raisin’ a fuss don’t mean you gotta join in. Remember how Jesus kept His peace even when they was comin’ after Him?
- Keep away from silly arguments. Don’t get dragged into fights that don’t matter, like it says in 2 Timothy 2:22. Let folks go on and do what they’re doin’, and you just keep yer peace.
So, when folks ask what the Bible says ‘bout drama, reckon it’s plain as day: keep to peace, watch yer words, don’t get tangled up in other folks’ troubles, and let the Lord be yer guide. Simple advice but worth followin’. You’ll have a lot more peace in yer heart, and that’s somethin’ we could all use more of these days.
