So, I got this idea to put on a Christmas play, you know, something to spice up the holidays. I started by looking for inspiration, so I searched online. I stumbled upon a bunch of drama websites. “Asian Drama, Watch drama asian Online for free releases in Korean, Taiwanese, Hong Kong, Thailand and Chinese with English subtitles on Dramacool.” That sounded interesting, but not quite what I was looking for.
Then I thought, maybe I should write an original play. I read somewhere, “If you’re looking for an original Christmas play to try this year, take a look at our resources for ‘A Christmas Quarrel’.” I considered adapting it to fit my idea. At the same time, I also browsed through some ready-made stuff. One site mentioned, “Popular short Christmas skits to perform during your church worship service.”
I even found a place called “Pioneer Drama” that apparently has a whole selection of Christmas plays. “Pioneer Drama has Christmas plays for the holidays,” their website said. It got me thinking about what kind of play I wanted. Something dramatic? Something funny? I remembered reading, “There are times when a great Christmas movie marathon includes some dramatic works instead of high-energy family films or cool action hits like Die Hard.” That’s it! A dramatic Christmas play!
Finding the Right Actors
Next, I needed actors. I browsed through some monologues, because, as one site put it, “Enjoy browsing Christmas monologues during this intense heat, and if you’re considering producing a short but sophisticated Christmas play for 2 strong actors.” I needed people who could really embody the characters. People who are “Living a rough life and raised with strong values” – that’s the kind of depth I was looking for. I put out a call for auditions, hoping to find some hidden gems in my community.
Putting It All Together
Once I had my script and my actors, it was time to put it all together. We rehearsed like crazy, working out the blocking, the emotions, the whole shebang. I wanted to use different resources to improve the play. For example, one website had a resource called, “‘A Christmas Quarrel’. And for a range of drama resources you can use all year round.” It was tough, especially with everyone’s busy schedules during the holiday season. As they say, “‘Tis the season to hole up indoors, hide away from the cold and snow.” But we made it work. We even incorporated some readings from a resource I found titled, “Easy to use Responsive Readings for your …Tags:ScriptsMonologue.”
The Big Night
Finally, the night of the performance arrived. Everyone was nervous, but excited. I saw a line somewhere once, “GETTING tired of the traditional Christmas movies like Home Alone and Elf? Are you looking for something new to spruce up your Holly Jolly Christmas? Have you been …Tags:Korean DramasChristmas Movies.” And I felt that, I really did. I wanted to give people something different, something memorable. And you know what? I think we did it. The play was a hit! People loved the story, the acting, everything. It was a lot of work, but seeing it all come together, it was totally worth it.
- We started with an idea.
- Then we did a lot of research.
- We wrote or found a script.
- We found our actors.
- We rehearsed our butts off.
- We put on a show.
That’s my Christmas play story, from start to finish. It was a wild ride, but I’d do it all over again in a heartbeat. Maybe next year, I’ll try a comedy!
