Well, let me tell ya, there’s this thing happening, a play they call it, Young Frankenstein. Sounds kinda crazy, but folks seem to like it. It’s at that Wheaton Drama place. Never been there myself, mind you, too busy with chores and such. But I heard some young’uns talking about it down at the market.
They said it’s one of them musical deals, like singing and dancing and all that jazz. I ain’t much for singing, unless it’s a hymn at church, but these city folk, they like their entertainment. This Young Frankenstein, it’s supposed to be funny. Real funny, they say. Now, I like a good laugh as much as the next person, but I ain’t sure about this here play. A monster and singing? Seems kinda odd if you ask me.
From what I gather, it’s about some fella named Frankenstein, and he ain’t no regular fella, you see. He’s got this family name, a kinda spooky one, and he’s tryin’ to live it down, or so they say. And he ends up makin’ a monster! Can you believe it? Like, how does someone go about makin’ a monster? I tell ya, city folk are somethin’ else.
They’re puttin’ on this show, this Young Frankenstein, at Wheaton Drama. It started May 17th and it’s runnin’ till June 9th. That’s a long time for folks to be singin’ and dancin’ about a monster, but hey, what do I know? I’m just an old woman who likes her peace and quiet.
- They say it’s based on a movie.
- A movie about a monster, imagine that!
- And this Mel Brooks fella, he made the movie, and now they made it into a play.
I heard some folks sayin’ it’s real hilarious. “It’s Alive! (And it’s Hilarious)” they were shoutin’. Well, I guess if a monster can be hilarious, then anything can be. They also said something about a “Lou Recommended”, whatever that means. Sounds fancy, though. Like someone important said it was good. Maybe I should go see it, just to see what all the fuss is about. But then again, I got chickens to feed and a garden to tend.
This Wheaton Drama place, they seem to be real proud of this show. They’re always postin’ about it on them computery things, the young’uns are always lookin’ at. Pictures and videos and all that. I saw one picture, and it looked kinda… well, it looked like they were havin’ fun. Maybe it ain’t so bad after all.
They even had auditions for it, you know. People tryin’ out to be in the play. Singin’ and dancin’ for a chance to be a monster-maker or a monster or somethin’. I tell ya, young folks got too much time on their hands. But good for them, I guess. At least they’re doin’ somethin’, not just sittin’ around like some I know.
So, this Young Frankenstein thing. It’s a musical, it’s a comedy, it’s got a monster, and it’s at Wheaton Drama. Sounds like a whole heap of somethin’, that’s for sure. Maybe I’ll ask my grandson to tell me more about it. He’s always got his nose in a book or a screen, he probably knows all about this monster business. And maybe, just maybe, I’ll even go see it myself. But don’t hold your breath, I got chores to do.
Anyway, that’s the gist of it. Young Frankenstein, a play about a monster, at Wheaton Drama. Go see it if you like, or don’t. Makes no difference to me. I got a garden to weed.
