Well, hey there! Let me tell ya’ll about this thing, this… uh… “CMX Summer Film Fest 2024,” yeah, that’s what they call it. Sounds fancy, don’t it? But it ain’t nothin’ but a bunch of movies for the young’uns and folks who like to watch ’em.
So, this CMX place, whatever that is, they’re showin’ these here movies all summer long. Started, like, back in June, June 18th they say, and goes all the way to August 8th. That’s a good long spell if you ask me. Plenty of time to get your fill of them picture shows. They say it’s for families, so I guess it’s all that cartoon stuff and maybe some of them other movies that don’t have too much… you know… stuff in ’em.
Now, listen to this, they got these movies every Tuesday mornin’, 10 o’clock sharp. And they only cost, what, a dollar ninety-nine? Shoot, that’s cheaper than a bag of feed! You can take the whole gaggle of kids and it won’t break the bank. They used to call it somethin’ else, somethin’ about “Cobb” and “free” movies, but I guess they changed it up. Probably just wanted to sound all highfalutin’.
The Big Deal about Cheap Movies
Anyways, they’re makin’ a big deal outta this “Summer Film Fest.” Sayin’ it’s a good way to beat the heat. Well, I reckon it is. Better than sittin’ out in the sun, sweatin’ like a hog. And for less than two dollars, you can’t go wrong. They’re showin’ all them animated films, the kind the kids love. You know, the ones with the animals that talk and all that jazz. I ain’t seen too many of ‘em myself, but the grandkids, they love that kinda stuff.
I heard tell they put this schedule out somewhere, on the internet I guess. Folks are talkin’ about it, sayin’ they’re gonna take their young’uns. Heck, I might even go myself, if I can find someone to drive me. It ain’t easy gettin’ around these days, what with my knees and all.
- Cheap tickets – only $1.99!
- Good for families and kids.
- Runs all summer long.
- Animated movies, so the young’uns will be happy.
- A good way to beat the heat.
Submittin’ Them Films, I Guess
Now, I also heard tell that some folks make these movies, these short ones. They send ’em in to these film festivals, hopin’ they’ll get picked. Seems like a lot of work to me, makin’ a whole movie just to show it off. But I guess some folks like doin’ that kinda thing. They say you gotta go online and fill out some forms and stuff. Seems complicated, if you ask me. I ain’t never done it, and I don’t reckon I ever will.
They got all sorts of rules about how long these movies can be. Some say 5 minutes, some say an hour. It’s all a bunch of mumbo jumbo to me. But I guess if you wanna get your movie in one of them festivals, you gotta follow the rules. And then there’s these other movies, the long ones, that ain’t in the festival but they show ’em anyway. Comin’ from studios they say. Don’t know too much ‘bout that.
So, what’s the deal with this here film fest?
Well, it’s just a bunch of cheap movies for folks to watch during the summer. Nothin’ fancy, just a way to keep the kids entertained and beat the heat. And it seems like lots of people are happy about it, ’cause who doesn’t like cheap entertainment? I reckon it’s a good thing, specially for folks with young’uns. Gives ‘em somethin’ to do and keeps ‘em outta trouble.
So, if you got nothin’ better to do on a Tuesday mornin’, and you got a couple of dollars to spare, you might as well go check it out. Who knows, you might even enjoy yourself. And if you don’t, well, at least you didn’t spend a whole lot of money. That’s how I see it, anyway.
