Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about this here “Deliverance” movie poster. I ain’t no fancy art critic or nothin’, but I know what I like when I see it.
First off, they got this poster, see? It’s gotta have them pictures, big ones, so you know what the movie’s about. Pictures gotta tell a story, just like when my grandpappy used to tell me tales ’bout the ol’ days. This “Deliverance” thing, it’s got canoes and rivers and some fellas lookin’ mighty scared. That tells ya right there, somethin’ ain’t right, somethin’ bad’s gonna happen. That’s good, that gets folks thinkin’.
Now, they say some of these posters, the old ones, they got cracks and holes. Well, that just means they been around a while, seen some things, like me! Folks like that, they like things that ain’t perfect, things that show their age. It’s like an old quilt, all patched up but still keeps ya warm.
- They say this movie got Burt Reynolds in it. He was a handsome fella, always smilin’. If he’s on the poster, you bet your bottom dollar folks gonna notice. Big stars, that’s what sells tickets, same way a pretty flower sells at the market.
- And Jon Voight, he’s in it too. Another good-lookin’ fella. Put them two on a poster and you got yourself a winner. It’s like bakin’ a cake, ya gotta have the right ingredients.
The colors, they gotta be bright, gotta catch your eye. You don’t want no dull, washed-out poster. It’s gotta jump out at ya, like a rooster crowin’ at dawn. Red, blue, green, whatever it takes to make folks look twice.
And the words, they gotta be big and bold too. “Deliverance,” that’s a strong word. It means somethin’. It makes ya wonder what kinda trouble these fellas are gettin’ into. And the year, 1972, that tells ya it ain’t no newfangled flick, it’s been around a while. Old things, they got stories to tell.
Some folks collect these posters, you know? Hang ’em up on their walls. I guess they like lookin’ at ’em, remindin’ ’em of the movie. It’s like keepin’ a picture of your family, keeps ’em close even when they’re far away.
They talk about different sizes too. Big ones, little ones, it don’t matter much to me. As long as it tells the story, that’s all that counts. A good poster, it’s like a good book, it takes ya somewhere else. It makes ya forget your troubles for a little while.
And they say some of these posters are real rare, hard to find. Well, that just makes ’em more special, I reckon. Like a four-leaf clover, ya gotta be lucky to find one. And if ya do, ya hold onto it tight.
So, that’s what I think about this “Deliverance” movie poster. It’s gotta have pictures, colors, words, and stars. It’s gotta tell a story and catch your eye. And if it’s old and a little beat up, well, that just makes it even better. It’s a piece of history, a reminder of a time gone by. Just like me, I reckon.
This John Boorman fella, he directed the movie, they say. Well, he musta done a good job, ’cause folks still talkin’ about it all these years later. And that poster, it’s a part of that story too. It’s a way to remember the movie, to keep it alive.
They got all sorts of posters, ya know. Movie posters, music posters, art posters. But this “Deliverance” one, it’s somethin’ special. It’s got that somethin’ that makes ya stop and look. It makes ya wanna see the movie, to find out what happens to them fellas in the canoes. And that, I reckon, is what makes a good poster.
