Hey everyone, it’s your boy coming at you with another one of my little adventures. So, the other day I was thinking, “It’s about time to get into some heavy stuff,” you know? Something that really makes you think. And boom, it hit me – Remembrance Day is coming up. So, I decided to dive into some war-themed movies to really feel the weight of it all. I thought, “Why not make a list of films that really show what war costs us and honor those who fought for our freedom?”
First off, I started digging around. It wasn’t just about finding any war movie. I wanted the real deal, the ones that hit you right in the feels. I stumbled upon this International Holocaust Remembrance Day thing, which is on January 27th. It’s a day to remember the liberation of Auschwitz in 1945, set up by the United Nations. Heavy stuff, right?
So, I started compiling this list. Not just any list, but a list of movies that are worth watching, some to share with others, and some just to enjoy. I came across a bunch of titles, but I wanted to focus on the ones about the Holocaust at first. I mean, it’s a topic that needs to be remembered and understood. I found out that there are tons of movies out there, but I narrowed it down to 21 films. Yeah, 21! Each one tells a different story, a different angle of the horrors and the heroism.
- The first one I watched, man, it really got to me. It was so raw and real. It made me realize how important it is to remember these events, to learn from them.
- Then I watched another one, which was completely different but just as powerful. It showed the human side of the war, the personal stories of those involved. It wasn’t just about the battles and the politics, but about the people, the families torn apart.
I even looked into some Canadian stories because, you know, gotta represent! I found five movies that were just amazing, telling the stories of Canadian soldiers and their sacrifices. It was eye-opening, to say the least.
As I was doing all this, I remembered it’s also the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War. So, I added a few films about that to my list, too. Different war, different stories, but the same message of remembrance and respect.
I ended up with a list of 10 films, each with its own genre and style, all connected to the theme of Nazism and anti-Semitism. It was a heavy movie marathon, let me tell you. But it was worth it. It made me appreciate the freedom we have today and the sacrifices made to ensure it. I watched some famous war dramas, many suggested dramatic films, including Schindler’s List and Europa Europa, which were both historically accurate and reliable.
So, that’s my little journey into the world of war movies. It was a lot, but it was something I felt I needed to do. And now, I’m sharing it with you guys. Maybe you’ll find some time to watch a few of these films. Trust me, it’s an experience you won’t forget. Peace out, everyone!
