Alright, so the other day, I was scrolling through Netflix, right? Just looking for something to watch while winding down. And I thought, “Why not combine two of my favorite things: movies and wine?” So I started digging into what Netflix has to offer in that department.
First off, I stumbled upon this movie called “Uncorked”. It’s about this young guy who’s torn between becoming a master sommelier and taking over the family’s barbecue joint. I mean, talk about a dilemma! I started watching it, and I was hooked. The actors, Mamoudou Athie, Courtney B. Vance, and Niecy Nash, they really bring their A-game. It was a good watch!
Then, I found “Bottle Shock”. Now, this one’s based on a true story from back in ’76. It’s all about how California wines got famous worldwide after this Napa Valley winery’s chardonnay won a blind taste test in France. Can you believe it? It’s like a David and Goliath story, but with wine. I watched it, and man, it made me appreciate a good glass of chardonnay even more.
But I didn’t stop there. I also checked out a couple more: “Sideways” and “A Good Year”. They’re not documentaries, but they’ve got wine at the heart of their stories. “Sideways” is a bit of a quirky comedy, while “A Good Year” is more of a romantic drama set in a vineyard. Both were pretty enjoyable and made for some good evening entertainment.
- Watched “Uncorked” – loved the family vs. dream dynamic.
- Dived into “Bottle Shock” – who knew wine history could be so exciting?
- Checked out “Sideways” and “A Good Year” – different vibes, but both worth watching.
Oh, and I almost forgot, I also watched “Holiday in the Vineyards”. The story is about a guy working undercover for his mom’s wine company. I thought that’s a nice movie too.
My Takeaway
So, after spending a few evenings exploring these wine-themed movies on Netflix, I gotta say, it was a blast. Not only did I get some good entertainment, but I also learned a thing or two about wine. It’s pretty cool how these films can mix storytelling with a bit of education and history. If you’re into wine or just looking for something different to watch, I’d say give these movies a shot. You might just discover your new favorite flick!
