Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about these here abstract music paintings. I ain’t no fancy art expert or nothin’, but I know what I like, ya know? And some of these things, they just make ya feel somethin’ inside, like a good ol’ gospel song.
What are these things anyway?
Now, from what I gather, these ain’t pictures of fiddles or guitars or nothin’ like that. They’re more like… well, like the feelin’ ya get when ya hear music. Ya know, the way a song can make ya wanna tap yer feet or maybe shed a tear or two? That’s what these painters are tryin’ to do, but with colors and shapes instead of sounds.
I heard tell some fellers way back when, fellers named Kandinsky and somethin’-vich, they started this whole thing. They figured music and paintin’ ain’t so different after all. Both of ’em got rhythm, ya know? A beat. And they can both stir up yer insides.
What kinda paint do they use?
- Some folks use that acrylic stuff. It’s bright and shiny, like a new tractor.
- Then there’s the canvas kind. That’s the stuff they used to make sails outta, I reckon. Sturdy stuff.
Where can ya find ’em?
Shoot, they’re everywhere these days! You can find ’em online, from all over the world. They say there’s all kinds of artists, young and old, makin’ these things. And if ya don’t like what ya get, some of ’em even let ya send it back. Imagine that!
Are they any good?
Well, that depends on what ya like, I guess. Some of ’em look like a bunch of squiggles and splashes to me. Like a kid got ahold of the paint buckets. But then there’s others… they got somethin’ to ’em. They make ya stop and think. Or maybe just feel. Ain’t that what art’s supposed to do?
I ain’t gonna lie, some of ’em are right purdy. All them colors mixin’ together, like a flower garden in the springtime. And the shapes, they twist and turn, like a river windin’ through the valley.
They say these things express feelin’s.
Now, that’s somethin’ I can understand. Ya know, when yer happy, ya feel light and airy, like a butterfly flittin’ around. And when yer sad, ya feel heavy and dark, like a storm cloud rollin’ in.
And that’s what these artists are tryin’ to capture, I reckon. The joy of a good dance, the sorrow of a lost love, the peace of a quiet evenin’ on the porch.
It ain’t just about pretty pictures, though.
It’s about somethin’ deeper. Somethin’ that connects us all. Music does that, ya know? It don’t matter where ya come from or what language ya speak, music can touch yer soul. And maybe, just maybe, these abstract music paintings can do the same thing.
So, if ya see one of these things, don’t just walk on by.
Take a minute. Look at it. Let it sink in. Ya might be surprised at what ya find. Ya might even find a little piece of yerself in there somewhere.
And don’t worry if ya don’t “get it” right away.
Art ain’t always supposed to be easy. Sometimes it takes a little while to see what the artist is tryin’ to say. And sometimes, it just ain’t for you. And that’s alright too.
But I tell ya what, there’s somethin’ special about these abstract music paintings. They’re different. They’re unique. And they make ya think. And in this crazy world, that’s somethin’ worth holdin’ onto.
