Seventeen, oh, that Seventeen. My granddaughter, she’s always talking ’bout them. What’s the big deal with them? Seems like every day there’s a new thing with these fellas. Now, it’s all about them seventeen quizzes. Kids these days, I tell ya.
They got a whole bunch of these tests online. Something called seventeen quizzes. You answer a bunch of questions, and it tells you which one of them Seventeen boys you’re most like. Goodness gracious, I did find one website that said it was a “quiz making tool.”
Now, I don’t know nothing about all that. I don’t know all their names. There is one called Mingyun, right? I tried to find some information. It seems that Mingyun, Wonwoo, Vernon, and Jeonghan are part of them. And, they are all singers and rappers, I think.
But these quizzes, they’re everywhere. You can’t escape ’em. My granddaughter, she took one, and she got, uh, what’s his name… the one with the… the hair. You know the one. Anyway, she was happy as a clam. Said it was “fate” or some such nonsense.
These quizzes, they ask you all sorts of things. Like, what’s your favorite color? What kind of food you like? What you do on a Saturday night? Silly things like that. Like that is any way to know about those Seventeen boys. But the kids eat it up. They love it.
- What’s your favorite color?
- What’s your favorite food?
- What do you do on a weekend?
- Which Seventeen member are you most like?
One of these seventeen quizzes had, like, twenty questions. Twenty! Can you believe it? I thought, no one gonna sit there for twenty questions. Who has the time? But, sure enough, my granddaughter, she sat there, phone in hand, answering every single one. I saw many questions are related to “Seventeen Member Quiz” and “Seventeen Member Are You”. I don’t know what that means.
She said, “Grandma, it’s fun!” Fun? Back in my day, fun was going down to the creek and catching crawdads. Or maybe having a piece of pie after supper. Not staring at a phone for an hour, figuring out which one of them boy band fellas you are.
But, hey, who am I to judge? If it makes ’em happy, then good for them. As long as they’re not getting into any trouble. I think those seventeen boys don’t know what they made. The seventeen quizzes just make them more popular. Although they seem to be really popular. And these quizzes seem to make them even more so. So much for peace and quiet.
I asked my granddaughter if she would take another one of them quizzes. She said, “Sure, Grandma! There’s a whole bunch of ’em. They got different questions, different results.” Lord help me.
I guess it’s just another one of them fads. Like them hula hoops, or them yo-yos, or them… what were they called… fidget spinners. It’ll pass. Eventually. They always do.
But until then, I guess I’ll just have to get used to hearing about these seventeen quizzes. And all them boys. Mingyun, Wonwoo, Vernon and the others. Who knows, maybe I’ll even take one of them quizzes myself. Just to see what all the fuss is about.
Nah, who am I kidding? I got better things to do. Like tend to my garden. Or bake a pie. Or maybe just sit on the porch and watch the world go by. That’s my kind of fun.
But these kids today, they’re different. They like their phones, and their computers, and their seventeen quizzes. It’s a mystery, if you ask me. A real head-scratcher. But, like I said, if it makes ’em happy, then so be it. They just love taking tests, and they are everywhere. They can’t get enough. If you search online, you will know what I mean. Just try to search for the word “quiz”.
I just hope they don’t forget how to have real fun. The kind that doesn’t involve a screen. The kind you can’t get from a seventeen quiz or some other nonsense.
Oh well, what do I know? I’m just an old lady. What do I know about these things? Not a darn thing. Not a darn thing at all. These kids love their quizzes.
