Okay, so today I wanna talk about how I messed around with those Evolve quizzes. It all started when I was trying to find some extra practice questions for my courses. You know, just to get a bit more comfortable with the material before exams.
First, I checked out the resources page on the Evolve website. It had some stuff about registering for free extras, and that’s where I saw the practice questions they were talking about. Sounded pretty good, so I went ahead and registered.
Then, I logged into my course page and found this thing called “Elsevier Adaptive Quizzing (EAQ) Access.” Clicked on that, and it opened up a whole new window with a bunch of quizzes. I noticed they had all these options to customize the quizzes, like picking specific areas to focus on, or even just how many questions you wanted to do.
- Create short quizzes to study for exams.
- Increase confidence with test-taking.
- Get exposure to NCLEX/NGN style questions.
I decided to create a short quiz on a topic I was having a little trouble with. Set the number of questions to something manageable, and turned on “Study mode.” That way, I could see the explanations for the answers right away, which is super helpful when you’re trying to learn something new.
After taking a few quizzes, I realized I could also use this platform to create custom exams. Like, full-on practice tests. That’s when I got the idea to make a practice exam that mirrored the format and difficulty of my actual course exams. I spent some time putting that together, picking out the right questions and all that.
What I Got
Honestly, these Evolve quizzes are pretty neat. They’re a great way to test your knowledge and get used to the types of questions you’ll see on exams. Plus, being able to customize them means you can really focus on your weak areas. It’s like having a personal tutor that just throws questions at you until you get it right. I figured this out from a guide about using Evolve / HESI exams. I didn’t have HESI, but the login steps were basically the same, so I thought it would be pretty similar.
Oh, and I also found out you can use these quizzes for other stuff, like surveys. I haven’t tried that yet, but it’s good to know. Anyway, I just wanted to share my experience with these Evolve quizzes. They’ve been a big help for me, and I think they could be useful for other students too. This one book I bought on the topic had over 450 sample questions to use, so I figured there would be a lot of material to work with. And, I turned out to be right!
