Okay, so today I tried out this thing called Dixon Sports. I’d heard a bit about it, figured it was time to see what all the fuss was about. Basically, it’s supposed to be some software that’s got video stuff for sports, or something like that. I don’t really know, I just saw some reviews online and thought I’d give it a go.
First off, I went ahead and got the software. Installing it was no big deal, pretty straightforward. Once I got it up and running, I started messing around with it. I guess it’s mainly about managing metadata, which, you know, sounds fancy but I’m not really sure what that means in the real world. I just wanted to see how it worked with videos, like if I could organize my own sports clips or something.
- Opened it up: Launched the program. The interface was kind of okay, nothing too flashy.
- Tried to import some videos: I had a few clips from my kid’s soccer games that I wanted to put in there. Took me a few minutes to figure out where to do that, but I got there in the end.
- Played around with the features: There were options to add tags and notes to the videos. I guess that’s what they mean by metadata? I tagged a few clips with the date and the players’ names. Not sure if I did it right, but it seemed to work.
- Got a bit lost: To be honest, I got a bit confused after that. There were a bunch of other features that I didn’t really understand. I think this software is probably more for people who know what they’re doing with sports videos, like coaches or analysts or something.
- Closed it up: In the end, I just closed the program. It wasn’t really what I was looking for, but I can see how it might be useful for some people.
This is what I did
I also saw some stuff online about sustainable golf, which I guess is a good thing? Not really related to what I was doing, but it caught my eye. And there was some random advice about washing hair less often. I mean, I wash my hair every other day, so maybe I should try spacing it out? Who knows. It seems like these people talk about everything, huh.
Anyway, that’s about it for my Dixon Sports adventure. It was an experience, I guess. I think if you’re really into sports and video stuff, you might like it. But for me, it was a bit too much. I’ll probably just stick to my regular way of organizing videos for now. Maybe one day I will understand what metadata really is, but it is not today. And hey, it is just my story, if you have used it before, you are welcome to share yours. But for today, I am done. It is time for me to do something else.
