Okay, so, let me tell you about this whole “Fairport Sports” thing I got into recently. It all started when I was trying to get my kids signed up for their school sports. They’re in seventh and ninth grade, so, you know, prime time for all that athletic stuff. Turns out, the Fairport Central School District, or FCSD as they call it, has this new system.
We had to go to this website called Arbiter Sports. Not gonna lie, I had never heard of it before. It seemed that’s for all the sports sign-ups now. No more paper forms or any of that old-school jazz, I guess. So, I got on there and started poking around.
First thing, we had to make an account. That was the easy part, you know, your standard username, password, all that deal. I had to put in all our details, the kids’ names, grades, the whole nine yards. It is a bit of a process, but it’s a one-time thing, so I figured, whatever, let’s get it done. I put in the necessary information one by one.
Then, I had to choose the sports. They’ve got everything listed there, football, basketball, cheerleading, you name it. My oldest is all about basketball, and the younger one, she’s been itching to try cheerleading. So, I selected those, and moved on to the next step.
After that, it was a whole bunch of forms to fill out. Medical history, emergency contacts, permissions, the works. I spent a good hour just filling out digital paperwork. It felt like I was signing my life away, but hey, gotta do what you gotta do for the kids, right? I clicked on “Submit”. And then, it was done.
The whole time I was doing this, I kept thinking, “Man, there’s gotta be more to sports in Fairport than just school stuff.” So, I did a little digging. I found out there’s this thing called the Fairport Raiders, which is like a community football and cheerleading thing. It looked pretty cool. I also found some information about basketball programs that have been around for like 25 years. Seems like there’s a lot going on in Fairport sports-wise.
I even stumbled upon some websites talking about all sorts of events in Fairport, like concerts and art shows and stuff, not just sports. It made me realize Fairport is a lot more lively than I thought. After the sign-up, I started to check those events’ information from time to time.
Anyway, the whole Arbiter Sports registration, it’s a bit of a headache, but once you get through it, you’re golden. And it did get me thinking about all the other sports stuff happening around here. I might even check out some of those local events sometime. Who knows, maybe I’ll become a regular at those Fairport Raiders games.
