Today, I want to talk about something that’s been a big part of my life lately: getting my kids involved in youth sports here in Dripping Springs. It’s been a ride, let me tell you, and I’ve learned a ton along the way.
First off, I did some digging to see what was even available in our area. Turns out, there’s this Dripping Springs Youth Sports Association, or DSYSA for short. They seem to be the main hub for youth sports around here. I found out they offer programs for both kids and adults, which is pretty cool. They’ve got everything from baseball to other activities.
We started by looking into baseball. My youngest was really itching to try it out, especially after watching some games on TV. I saw that DSYSA has a baseball club, and they were holding tryouts for their 8U Fall 2023 team. So, we signed him up. The tryout was a bit nerve-wracking, but he had a blast, and it was great to see him out there giving it his all.
Summer Activities
- Pool Parties
- Gymnastics
- Ninja
- Dance Parties
But it’s not just about baseball. Summer’s coming up, and we wanted to keep the kids active. I stumbled upon these summer programs that offer a bunch of different themes. They’ve got everything from pool parties to gymnastics, and even ninja and dance parties. I’m thinking we’ll sign them up for a few of these. Plus, they had this deal where the first month is free if you join, so that’s a bonus.
Then there’s football. I found out about this Skyhawks Flag Football program that’s fueled by USA Football. It sounded pretty legit, with a curriculum developed by USA Football and all. They teach the kids all the basics, like passing and receiving. My older one is super into football, so we’re definitely going to check this out.
Variety of Sports
- Archery
- Tee Ball
- Softball
- Baseball
And it doesn’t stop there. I was surprised to find out they even offer archery. Archery! How cool is that? They’ve also got the classics like tee ball, softball, and of course, baseball. It seems like there’s something for every kid, no matter what they’re into.
One thing I really appreciated was how organized everything seemed to be. They process refunds for credit cards or checks within two business days. It’s good to know they’ve got their stuff together.
All in all, getting involved in Dripping Springs youth sports has been a great experience for our family. It’s not just about the sports themselves, but also about the community and the values the kids are learning. It is good to see them out there, making friends, and just having fun. If you’re in the area and have kids, I highly recommend checking it out. You won’t regret it!
