Well, let me tell you about the TV shows back in 1967. You know, back then, we didn’t have all these fancy gadgets, just a good old television set that made a lot of noise and flickered sometimes. It was a big deal to sit down as a family and watch what was on.
So, in September 1967, there were some shows that started. On September 7, they brought out a new show called The Flying Nun on ABC. Now, this was something special! A nun flying around, who wouldn’t want to see that? And also on the same day, Dundee and the Culhane kicked off on CBS. I didn’t catch that one much, but folks said it was alright.
Then just a couple days later, on September 9, they started showing Spider-Man. Can you imagine? A fella swinging from webs, fighting bad guys. The kids loved it! It was on ABC too, just like that nun.
And on September 10, there was another one called The High Chaparral on NBC. That one was all about cowboys and stuff. You know how much we love our cowboy stories!
Now, let’s not forget about the colors! On June 15, 1967, they did a color test broadcast. Folks gathered around to see the colors pop on their screens. It was like magic, I tell you. Those races from Pakenham were the first thing they showed in color. Before that, everything was in black and white, and boy, was that dull!
Then as the year went on, they had all sorts of shows that made us laugh and cry. There was something for everyone. Family comedies, dramas, and even some action. It was nice to see the whole family gathered, watching the same thing and having a good time together.
There were more shows too, like The Green Hornet, which I think came out in September as well. It had that fella with the black mask and a fancy car. You couldn’t miss it! Every week was something new, and folks talked about it for days.
By the time summer rolled around in 1968, we were all glued to the screen, just waiting to see what would happen next. And you know, it wasn’t just the kids who got excited; even the grown-ups had their favorites.
So, if you’re looking back at 1967, just know it was a lively year for television. Each show brought something different, something that made us laugh or think or just escape from our day-to-day chores. That’s what made it all so special, being able to enjoy a good story right in our living rooms.
Now, times have changed a lot, but those memories from sitting around watching the TV with family, well, they’re something you don’t forget. And that’s the story of 1967 on the television. A simple time with simple shows that brought us all together.
