Alright, so you wanna know about them fishin’ TV shows, huh? Well, let me tell ya, I’ve seen a few in my time, even though I ain’t got no fancy cable or nothin’. Just the basics, ya know? But I hear things, and sometimes I catch a glimpse when I’m over at my neighbor’s place.
First off, there’s this River Monsters show. Now, that one’s somethin’ else. This fella, he goes around the world, catchin’ these big, ugly fish. Scary lookin’ things, I tell ya. He’s always in some far-off place, wrestlin’ with somethin’ that could swallow ya whole. It’s kinda excitin’, I guess, but I wouldn’t wanna be in his shoes. Too much work, if you ask me. I like my fishin’ peaceful, sittin’ by the creek, not fightin’ no monsters.
Then there’s this Silver Kings show. This one’s all about them tarpon fish down in the Keys. Fancy fish, them tarpon. Jumpin’ and fightin’ like crazy. Them fellas on the show, they got all the fancy gear and boats. It’s pretty to watch, all that sunshine and blue water. But me? I’m happy with my little cane pole and some worms. Don’t need no fancy stuff to catch a good fish.
Now, if you’re just startin’ out with fishin’, there’s shows for that too. I hear they got shows that teach ya the basics, you know? Like how to tie a hook and cast a line. That’s important stuff, I reckon. You don’t wanna be out there lookin’ like a fool, flailin’ around with your pole. Gotta learn the ropes, just like with anythin’ else.
- And then there’s the saltwater fishin’ shows. That’s a whole different ballgame, I tell ya. Big boats, big fish, big ocean. I ain’t never done none of that myself. Too much water for me. I like to be able to see the shore, ya know? But them saltwater fellas, they catch some monsters, too. Tuna, marlin, all them fancy fish.
- And the fly fishin’ shows. Now that’s somethin’ I just don’t get. Wavin’ that little stick around, tryin’ to trick a fish with a fake bug. Seems like a lot of work to me. But some folks swear by it. They say it’s the most challengin’ way to fish. I say, give me a good ol’ worm any day.
- Oh, and them ice fishin’ shows! Crazy folks, sittin’ out on a frozen lake in the middle of winter. I seen ’em on TV, bundled up in all them clothes, lookin’ like Eskimos. They drill a hole in the ice and drop a line down. Seems cold and miserable to me, but they say it’s peaceful. I guess it takes all kinds.
And then there’s them fishin’ competition shows. Now, them fellas are serious about their fishin’. They got all the fancy gear and the fancy boats, and they’re out there tryin’ to catch the biggest fish or the most fish. It’s kinda like a race, but with fishin’ poles. They get all worked up, yellin’ and screamin’. I don’t know, seems like too much pressure to me. Fishin’ should be relaxin’, not a competition.
I heard about this show, Deadliest Catch, too. It ain’t really about regular fishin’, more like crabbin’. Them fellas are out on the Bering Sea, in the freezin’ cold, fightin’ the waves and the weather to catch them crabs. It’s dangerous work, I tell ya. People get hurt, boats get sunk. But they make a lot of money, I guess. Enough to risk their lives for. I wouldn’t do it, not for all the tea in China. Too risky, too cold, and too much work. I’ll stick to my little creek, thank you very much.
There’s even apps now, I hear. Folks watchin’ fishin’ on their phones! Can you believe it? They say it helps ’em learn new tricks and see some unbelievable fish. Well, I guess that’s alright for them youngsters. Me? I’d rather be out there doin’ the real thing. Feelin’ the sun on my face, the wind in my hair, and a fish on the line. That’s the best way to learn, if you ask me.
So, there you have it. A little bit about them fishin’ TV shows. There’s somethin’ for everyone, I guess. Whether you like monsters, tarpon, or just learnin’ the basics. But the best way to learn about fishin’, I reckon, is to get out there and do it yourself. Find yourself a good spot, cast a line, and see what happens. You might just get hooked.
And remember, it ain’t always about catchin’ the biggest fish. Sometimes, it’s just about bein’ out there, enjoyin’ the peace and quiet. That’s what I like about it, anyway. Just me and my pole, and maybe a few fish.
