Alright, let’s talk about these UFC training gloves, you know, the ones them fellas wear when they’re punchin’ and kickin’ each other. I seen ‘em on the TV, all colorful and whatnot. Looks like they got a whole bunch of ‘em, so let’s see what’s what.
First off, they got these “Ultimate Combat” thingamajigs. Sounds fancy, right? Sounds like they got all sorts of stuff for fightin’ and trainin’. Gloves and all, I reckon. They say you can get these gloves at “DICK’s Sporting Goods.” Don’t know who Dick is, but he sure sells a lot of stuff, that’s for sure. You can even order ‘em online, so you don’t gotta go nowhere. That’s mighty convenient, I tell ya.
Now, they got these new “official fight gloves,” they call ‘em “3EIGHT” and “5EIGHT.” I ain’t sure what that means, but it sounds important. Sounds like them smart fellas with their “scientific data” and “engineering principles” made ‘em. They talked to the fighters and their coaches too, so I guess they know what they’re doin’. They wanted to make the gloves fit better and work better, you know, so them fellas can punch and kick without hurtin’ themselves too much.
I heard tell of this fella Tyson, used to be a big puncher. He’d use smaller gloves when he was fightin’ for real, 8 ounces they say. But when he was just trainin’, he’d use bigger, heavier gloves, like 18 ounces. That’s ‘cause he wanted to protect his hands. Can’t punch nobody if your hands are all busted up, now can ya? And I guess he didn’t wanna hurt his sparring partners too bad neither. That’s nice of him, I reckon.
- So why do they use gloves anyway? Well, it’s mostly to protect your hands, like I said. Punchin’ someone in the face ain’t exactly soft on your knuckles, ya know? Without gloves, them fellas would be breakin’ their hands all the time.
- And it ain’t just about the puncher’s hands, the gloves protect the fella gettin’ punched, too.
- Think about it – a bare-knuckle punch is gonna do a whole lot more damage than a punch with a glove on.
Now, there’s different kinds of gloves for different kinds of trainin’. You got your big, puffy ones for sparring, so you don’t knock your partner’s teeth out. Then you got your smaller ones for hittin’ the bags, so you can feel the impact and get your technique right. And then you got your fight gloves, the ones they use in the actual matches. Those are the smallest and lightest, so you can be fast and accurate.
I tell ya, these gloves ain’t cheap neither. Some of them cost a pretty penny. But I guess if you’re serious about fightin’, you gotta invest in good equipment. Can’t be skimpin’ on somethin’ that’s gonna protect your hands, that’s for sure. You gotta get somethin’ that fits right and feels good, too. If your gloves are too big or too small, you ain’t gonna be able to punch or block right, then your gonna get your butt kicked. And nobody wants that, do they?
So there you have it, a little bit about these UFC training gloves. I ain’t no expert, but I can tell ya, they’re important for them fellas who do all that fightin’. They protect their hands, they help ‘em train, and they make sure they can put on a good show for all us folks watchin’ at home. So next time you see them fellas duke it out on TV, you’ll know a little bit more about them gloves they’re wearin’. And If you’re gonna go punching stuff yourself, get some good gloves, ya hear?
Now remember, I don’t know much about these fancy fightin’ things, but I know common sense. And common sense says you gotta protect yourself, whether you’re punchin’ a bag or punchin’ another fella. So get yourself some good gloves, and don’t go around startin’ fights, ya hear? Leave the fightin’ to the professionals, and you just stick to watchin’ from the couch.
And that’s about all I gotta say about that. Go on now, get outta here.
