So, the other day I was scrolling through videos, as you do, and I stumbled upon this topic – the fastest UFC submissions. I found it quite interesting, so I got into it and tried to see what’s the fastest submission in UFC history.
First, I dug up some old fight records. I mean, way back. Started with the early UFC events. I watched a bunch of fights, skipping through the boring parts, you know, just to get to the good stuff.
- I started with some honorable mentions, like Frank Shamrock vs. Kevin Jackson. That was a quick armbar, just 22 seconds at UFC 15.5. Also, I looked into Roman Mitichyan vs. Dorian Price. That was an ankle lock, pretty fast too.
Then, I moved on to UFC 6. Man, those were some wild fights. Not a single fight went the distance! But this one fight, Oleg Taktarov vs. Dave Macias, that was something else. It ended in just nine seconds! Nine! Can you believe it?
After that, I checked out this other fight. It was between Dennis Hallman and Matt Hughes. Now, Hughes had lost to Hallman before, a quick 17-second loss. This time, he was looking to turn the tables. I watched this fight on the edge of my seat, but I won’t spoil it for you. You gotta see it for yourself.
I also watched Ronda Rousey vs. Cat Zingano at UFC 184. It’s one of those fights everyone talks about. The main event, and it was over so fast, it’s like, if you blinked, you missed it.
Finding the Fastest
So, after watching all these fights, I was like, “What is actually the fastest one?” Turns out, it happened in just 14 seconds. Fourteen! That’s like, the time it takes to tie your shoelaces. Insane, right?
I compiled a list, you know, just for fun. I put together the top 10 fastest submissions. It’s pretty cool to see how quickly these fighters can end a match. I had a blast going through all of this. It’s amazing how much UFC history is out there, just waiting to be watched.
