So I’ve been messing around with this 2024 Topps UFC card thing, and let me tell you, it’s been a ride. I started out just wanting to see what all the fuss was about, you know? I mean, I’ve seen these cards around, but never really paid them much mind. Figured it was time to dive in.
First thing I did was try to get a handle on the different sets they’ve got. There’s this “Finest” set that seems to be a big deal. It’s got like 300 cards, broken down into different levels. You got your basic, run-of-the-mill cards, and then it goes up from there. I spent a good chunk of time just trying to sort through those. And you know what is classic “Finest” approach. It’s really cool.
Then there’s this other one, “Gold Label.” Now, this one’s interesting. They say it’s making its “historic debut” which, I guess, means it’s brand new. They are talking about 100 fighters in the base set, and each fighter has three different versions, called “Classes.” I started with Class I. To be honest, I spent way too long figuring out the differences between Class I, Class II, and Class III. That will be a new experience for me, but who cares, it’s a hobby.
And just when I thought I was getting the hang of it, I stumbled upon the “Knockout” set. Apparently, this one’s making a comeback. Last time it was out was back in 2020, and then it just disappeared for a while. It is back to the game. These cards are shiny as hell, let me tell you. They really catch your eye.
I tried to keep track of everything, making little notes and lists. I found myself getting lost in the details, looking up the fighters, checking out the different card designs. It’s a whole world in there.
Honestly, I didn’t expect to get this into it. I thought I’d just poke around a bit, see what the deal was, and move on. But I ended up spending hours on this stuff, and there are still things I want to check out. I wouldn’t say I’m a collector now, but I definitely have a new appreciation for these Topps UFC cards.
